Your Role

The National Key Account Manager's main objective is the retention and growth of Kuehne-Nagel's market share within the assigned industry in South Africa. This entails a solution-based consultative selling role across larger and strategic key Accounts within the Industrial vertical. The role will be operating out of Johannesburg.

Your Responsibilities

  • Establish a portfolio of global as well as local key accounts by liaising with local stakeholders (BM, NV, BU's) as well as counterparts in the regions and global Industry champions. The portfolio of accounts will include customers with project-type businesses.
  • Identify goals and objectives for the development of each key account (account plan) in the assigned vertical and align with Jnb NV. Pursue cross- and upselling strategies per customer. 
  • Pro-active contribution to the regional monthly KAM calls.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions according to customer needs and objectives.
  • Retain and grow the share of wallet of the key customers in terms of:
  • Overall turnover improvement, 
  • Opportunity development of all Kuehne +Nagel's core services, 
  • Engagement of key customers in any of Kuehne + Nagel's new product development efforts 
  • Maintain/grow profitability of key customers 
  • Operate as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to your customers.
  • Conduct regular business reviews where applicable and align with operations on customer’s requirements.
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key customer stakeholders.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Bachelors / First University Degree / Preferred
  • You have 5 years experience in a global, regional or national key account capacity, with proven a record of business development.
  • You have 5 years experience within the customer vertical.
  • You have operational experience in one of the core transportation modes being Sea, Air or Road.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy.
  • Proven verbal and written communications skills. Ability to navigate on senior management level
  • Good command of the English language - both written and spoken
