About Our Team

Our team is known as Emerging Creative. We are a multidisciplinary squad of creatives who partner with teams across Netflix XD to provide an additive creative perspective. We are specifically focused on how audio, video, motion & design can be utilized to amplify the impact of new product experiences. We aim to create rich sensory experiences that spark an emotional reaction with our members; driving connection, conversation, and action

What You’ll Do

  • Provide creative vision and design for all motion projects
  • Create high quality motion and video solutions that speak to innovative ideas and set the tone for Netflix vision
  • Find opportunities where motion can enhance product design, concepts, and direction
  • Partner with Motion UX cohort to evolve our motion language, guidelines and principles
  • Work strategically to drive Netflix brand awareness and deliver strong engagement through creative deliverables
  • Collaborate with motion designers, product designers, and A/V strategists to understand new product decisions, build back into the motion system when validated, and extend to engineering
  • Advocate for inclusive experiences across platforms, being able to speak to the usability benefits of including motion in design work
  • Communicate motion design rationale clearly to extended stakeholders, rationalizing decisions based on data, brand guidance, or accessibility/usability
  • Create a collaborative working environment that will enable our design and engineering partners to build motion and interaction experiences confidently
  • Embrace A/B testing to understand what design solutions best work toward engaging viewers and retaining them
  • Initiate and drive ongoing systems research efforts, acting as glue between all teams involved in horizontal projects
  • Deliver fresh thinking and innovative creative solutions that serve as inspiration and drive business initiatives forward including vision projects that drive business impact

The Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in product design building experiences for end customers
  • Mastery of After Effects and other software for creating user interface animations and rapid user experience comps, animations, and prototypes
  • Exceptional creativity in concept development, storyboarding, and problem solving
  • Ability and desire to flex high & low to inform strategic decisions as well as execute detailed hands on work 
  • Strong demonstration of visual craft and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity, build alignment and influence peers
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight or changing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate decisions and rationale
  • Strong technical understanding of motion design concepts to communicate effectively with engineering
  • Design experience working with a fast-changing deliverables and delivery times and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of driving accessible solutions at scale, across TV and mobile platforms
  • Experience utilizing Figma / Figma-constructed assets to ingest into motion tooling and/or experience ingesting assets from a design system
  • The spidey sense to recognize patterns most people don’t see in the organization, and the ability to facilitate collaborative efforts to connect the dots
  • Experience working with creative & art directors, motion designers, audio designers, and illustrators as well as product designers, engineers, and product managers
  • Exemplify reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all work-related interactions

  • Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $200,000-$700,000.
