Overview:

The Director, International Business Development (IBDD) is an experienced professional responsible for successfully leading and implementing international initiatives by promoting and protecting the brand into Retail channels (specialty retail stores, or premium grocery stores) and Foodservice channels. The IBDD not only drive B2C and B2B sales, local marketing initiatives and is a trusted consultant and partner in the success of the company, selected importers/distributors, brokers and Retail Brand Ambassadors.

The IBDD will be accountable to develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy that will increase sales and build brand awareness in markets that Boar's Head is not present or has limited penetration. Also provide leadership in the development of the company’s short and long-term international sales plan, forecast, and budget and be an active participant in the overall business planning.

The characteristics of a successful IBDD go much deeper than possessing specific skills – they must be individuals who lead and collaborate with many groups of people across both Boar’s Head, international manufacturers, government agencies and foreign retail organizations. Multi-lingual language skills are integral to the success of this individual and willing to travel abroad.

Job Description:

Essential Functions

  • Lead and oversee the development and growth of profitable new international business, while cultivating key relationships.
  • Conducts in-depth market research to qualify developing business opportunities: leverages industry contacts for strategic intelligence; and assess the viability of potential future proposal efforts, business partnerships or project opportunities.
  • Define, implement, and drive the customer's business development; guarantees the implementation of the Marketing, the key account planner and the achievement of defined short and long-term targets as well as the product development plan.
  • Provide deeper customer engagement as an ambassador within the international marketplace for the Boar's Head Brand.
  • On a regular basis, keep his line manager as well as the Company informed about strategies, plans, activities and results.
  • Develop and manage long term relationship with the assigned accounts, understanding customer's business and priorities and influencing customer strategy as far as Boar's Head Brand products (existing or under development); coordinates Boar's Head resources to present "One face to the Customer.
  • Contributes to the development of SOPs to enhance the company’s business development and recruiting practices.
  • Identify, develop and attract high value prospects, business partners to continue our Brand expansion across channels within assigned countries and new countries.
  • Collaborate with Boar's Head Brand departments to evaluate client requirements and to prepare commercial offers consistent with company /departments capabilities; define jointly with the Company pricing, terms & conditions, negotiations and agreements.
  • Plan and follow up high priority activities related to accounts, coordinating the Company/Region Sales Force for this purpose
  • Supervise project management for strategic turnkey projects ensuring an effective order management, guaranteeing the respect of contractual conditions and the delivery of products according to defined timing with client
  • Provide input to the company's R&D function on product development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of the standards set forth within the Sales Policy and ensure that training, product presentation, professionalism of team/associates and the way in which the Brand is presented and handled at store/account level
  • Oversee execution of consumers’ Boar’s Head Brand experience, including in-store execution, Brand Marketing integration, and sales associate training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of international account management, sales management experience, preferably with an international CPG company or retail management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of multiple distributor distribution models and understanding how goods-and-services flow across international boundaries from supply and demand factors.
  • Experience in developing a distributor network based on our company’s vision process.
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish, Portuguese a plus.
  • BA/BS Degree with focus on international trade or relevant degree desired.
  • Proven experience in sales, account management, relationship-building, and influencing executive audiences.
  • Excellent knowledge of Latin America and Caribbean cultures strongly preferred, and a track record of sales and marketing successes within either B2C and/or B2B Channels.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written communication; and presentation skills. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers and employees of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, presentation skills and ability to interpret information from original data sources to create effective presentations.
  • Ability to foster an environment of trust and respect.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and forge partnerships across a diverse population of individuals and companies (domestic/international)
  • Ability to work self-directed and to motivate and or lead a team of international agents/organizers
  • Computer literate: all aspects of MS Office, Salesforce and/or CRM database experience

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel 80% of the time internationally to identify prospects, meet with clients, and stay abreast of market conditions.
