York College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor position in the Department of Health Professions in the Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) program. The anticipated start date is Fall 2024.

York’s CLS program resides within the York College School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs and has been recently reaccredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) for 10 years, through April 2030.

Teaching faculty perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise, as well as sharing responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions such as visits to clinical sites. She/he will participate in development and assessment of curricular content, student advisement and will teach in areas of expertise. Responsibilities also include assessment-related activities to satisfy college and accreditation requirements. The successful candidate will be involved in student recruitment and admissions activities; provide service to the College and the Health Professions Department; and engage in scholarly research. Candidates must be available to teach evenings, and/or weekends and will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Clinical Laboratory Science. Assigned courses will include Hematology and may include additional courses such as Clinical Chemistry, Immunoserology, Urinalysis/ Body Fluids, Coagulation, Molecular Diagnostics, Microbiology, and Immunohematology.

Also, the qualified candidate must meet the NAACLS requirements as CLS program director and have knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation and certification procedures.The candidate will be responsible for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the program. The candidate is expected to participate in the budget preparation process and have regular and consistent contact with students, faculty, and program personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS (Master of Science) degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent
  • ASCP or ASCPi MLS or MT certification
  • Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience as a clinical laboratory technologist, atleast 3 years of teaching experience or other experience training laboratory technologists, and a clear research direction.
  • The ability to teach effectively, demonstrate scholarship or achievement and ability to provide a broad variety of service as a professional.
  • Candidates must engage in at least 36 hours of documented continuing professional development every 3 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced ASCP specialty certification
  • PhD in a related area
  • Prior experience as a CLS Program Director
  • Rank of Associate Professor

Assistant Professor - Salary Range $90,375 - $99,532

Associate Professor - Salary Range $107,789 - $117,805

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
