In this position... 

Position is for a Technical Expert - Electronic Module Component Reliability for Full-Service Supplier Electronic Control Units within the Electrical Engineering Hardware organization, responsible for leading the Ford electronic module component approval process for electronic control module components including supply chain resilience and design rules.

What you'll do...

Lead Ford electronic module component approval process for electronic control module components.

Responsible for creation and maintenance of core electronic hardware design specifications. 

Oversees and approves ECU supplier component validation process and ensures supplier has robust component approval process internally.

Lead Ford design rules and guidelines for robust circuit board design. 

Specify acceptable circuit board design requirements with materials and design features such as minimum trace separation.

Specify populated circuit board cleanliness and maximum electrical activity allowed in high pin density areas. 

Provide best practices for solder reflow definition including final solder geometry/voiding requirements.

Lead conformal coating specification and approval. 

Specify and approve significant and critical characteristics on necessary components and processes.

Lead Ford design rules and design selection of header connectors for electronic modules.

Work with ECU suppliers to review and approve header connectors including connection methods to the circuit board. 

Maintain a list of preferred header connector designs.

Lead Development of a standard set of high-volume components for supply resilience.

Partner with purchasing and Semiconductor management team in investigation and effort of direct sourcing high-cost and High-risk components/sub-assemblies; includes leading reviews of specialty ASIC design and verification data, and maintain micro roadmaps (micros, ASICs, Drivers, etc.).

Maintain a database of approved and preferred components.

Lead warranty and program design issue resolution on Electronic module components. 

Lead the resolution of functional abnormalities observed in module designs.

Lead warranty investigation and resolution of field issues. 

Work with suppliers on requested component design changes.

Conduct Deep Dive Audits of supplier component verification.

AEC Q100 validation of specialty Asics, semiconductors, and components.

Ensure testing was performed to expected standards and test requirements.

Audit program level verification evidence to ensure program compliance.

Support Supplier and Subsystem FMEA reviews.

Review early program assumptions and identify risk areas of the ECU components and ensure a proper validation process is defined. 

Ensure Ford and industry lessons learned are documents in the associated quality history. 

Audit alignment of classification of significant and critical characteristics in appropriate documents. 

Confirm all Design Rules & Requirements have been assessed at key milestones.

Lead the creation of and conduct training, seminars, mentoring to support Ford internal team members to develop a broader worst-case analysis capability. 

Collaborate with the other hardware technical specialists, throughout the organization and enterprise, to drive necessary updates to other SDS specifications or requirements relative to gaps or weaknesses identified during validation, troubleshooting or service.

You'll have...

BS engineering degree.

10 or more years of experience.

6 years of specialty within automotive electronic design and validation. 

Even better, you may have...

MS engineering degree.

Proven and recognized leader in Electronic Module Design. 

Experienced in Electronic Module Quality disciplines and processes, including semiconductor supply chain.

Excellent program management skills, mentoring skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.

Strong supplier relationship skills to coach and lead module core engineers and suppliers as required.
