JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the overall Service Center Quality System in accordance with the FAA 14 CFR part 145, ISO9002 Quality System requirements. Supervises the activities of inspectors performing aircraft and avionics inspections[DC1] . 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the activities of Aircraft and Avionics Inspectors, ensuring that their work, as well as the work performed by Service Center Maintenance Technicians, meets the technical quality standards defined by various specifications and regulations.
  • Ensures that the FAA 14 CFR part 145 Repair Station requirements, FAA Safety Management System (SMS), and ISO9002 Quality System is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the applicable procedures Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Reports actual quality performance as defined by SMS Safety Assurance and risk assessment procedures as required to the General Manager and the Director, Global Compliance and Quality.
  • Ensures the proper submission of reports of defects or unairworthy conditions in accordance with FAR 145.63.
  • Reviews, risks, and coordinates action on any “Maintenance Continuous Improvement” (MCI) reports generated.
  • Reports to the General Manager and Director, Global Compliance and Quality quarterly on the performance of the Quality System for purposes of review and as a basis for improvement of the Quality System.
  • Able to research and find pertinent FAA specifications, type certificate data sheets, airworthiness directives, manufacturers’ overhaul manuals, service bulletins, related Federal Aviation Administration material, and other technical publications as required.
  • Ensures that all technical information and specifications upon which aircraft overhaul, maintenance, repairs, servicing, modifications, installations, and rework is performed is FAA and/or applicable CAA approval requirements to the latest version available.
  • Ensures the proper execution of FAA Form 337, when required, and the Maintenance Release pertinent to all items released to service by the Service Center.
  • Ensure that all forms, documents, records, files, manuals, publications, maintenance records, and other quality information resources are periodically reviewed, and disposition handled according to Textron Aviation Standard Practice CSP 3-4, “Record Retention.”
  • Makes periodic checks on all inspection tools and equipment and monitors the calibration status of precision test equipment as outlined in the Repair Station Quality Control Manual.
  • Ensures final inspections and acceptance of all incoming material are performed appropriately, including new parts and supplies, and determines the airworthiness of articles on which work has been performed by contract outside the Service Center.
  • Ensures that preliminary, hidden damage, and final inspections of all items processed by the Service Center are performed appropriately.
  • Ensures that rejected and unserviceable parts are handled in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts.
  • Maintains M.S.D.S. file for chemicals used by the Service Center. Monitors activities to ensure chemicals are stored, used and disposed of in accordance with Company policy and manufacturer, OSHA, and EPA requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Airframe & Powerplant license required
  • Minimum 5 years of relative aviation, quality, manufacturing, or service experience required. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must be a self-starter with strong planning, organizational, written and verbal communication and negotiating skills.
  • Requires the ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, analyze situations objectively and make sound decisions, and interpret budgets and finance data.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills as well as solid computer skills are required.
  • Prior inspection or production experience is helpful.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable.
