THE ROLE

We are looking for a Solution Manager to join the team to help shape and deliver direct-to-consumer suite of products. Working to the Solution Lead, the Solution Manager will contribute to implement the solution roadmap.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is interested in working on all aspects of the products including operational support, analysis of new feature requests and delivery of new features.

The successful Solution Manager will be involved in a range of analysis and delivery activities including: 

  • Supports and contributes to the development and delivery of the Solution Lead roadmap for the direct-to-consumer team, meeting the business's requirements and in line with the BBC Studios' technology strategy
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of direct-to-consumer projects. Works with assigned project delivery specialists and external parties to support project delivery in order that these are delivered on time and in budget, and risks, dependencies, and issues are well managed
  • Guides the work of systems engineers, specialists, and business analysts who are directly related to their particular area, working with managers to contribute to the creation of an ambitious, inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment, so that everybody feels supported to be their authentic self and to perform to the best of their ability
  • Works within agile delivery teams as required, working with delivery managers, engineering, and user experience to deliver internal products to deadlines
  • Develop relationships with pan-BBC and external stakeholders, delivery partners and suppliers as well as with colleagues and internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of contracts with vendors, ensuring that BBC Studios receives the services required and achieves best value
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and immediate team
  • Assist with elicitation, analysis and documentation of business requirements as appropriate 
  • Assist with identifying the scope of new features and liaise with the development team to establish effort
  • Work closely with Solution Architect, Software Developers, Testers, Business Analysts and Project Managers as part of an agile team

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

  • Good functional and technical analysis skills on complex project including back end and front end systems
  • Experience in supporting delivery including operational support
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish effective working relationships and credibility with a wide range of internal and external contacts and key stakeholders
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, particularly the ability to present technical, complex initiatives, strategies and systems in a manner that can be simply and clearly understood by non-technical colleagues 
  • Good knowledge of project lifecycle and delivery in a technical environment
  • Experience of end-to-end product delivery or a good awareness and understanding of agile methodology and practices
  • Understanding and ability to apply knowledge and understanding of technologies, workflows, and interfaces to contribute to the development and delivery of a roadmap in a specified area 
  • Experience in delivering, or of playing a part in delivering, solutions or products in the specified area in organisations of similar scope, complexity, and operations as BBC Studios
  • Able to quickly gain an awareness and understanding of the editorial aims, policies, and priorities of BBC Studios relevant to their area, with an ability to translate these into relevant solutions
  • Ability to demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills required on potentially contentious issues, to develop positive working relationships
  • Has resilience and is able to take input and direction to run with a task; works on own initiative
