About This Role

IRhythm Technologies, Inc. is a San Francisco‐based medical device company that is combining novel diagnostic devices with advanced data analysis concepts to create a new approach to cardiac rhythm monitoring. The product development team is made up of a close-knit group of talented engineers representing a wide range of engineering disciplines. We work together in a collaborative atmosphere, and we are passionate about delivering innovations that improve the quality of health care and the patient experience. 

You will be part of a team developing novel wearable medical products and the equipment necessary to build and test those products. You will also help transfer the product to high volume manufacturing.

As a senior engineer, you will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. You will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results. You will act independently to determine methods and procedures. You must be able to juggle competing priorities and to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Product design of wearable medical devices through the entire new product introduction process.
  • Generate concepts of new products incorporating a broad range of disciplines, materials, and processes.
  • Model and create drawings of complex plastic injected molded parts and full product assemblies.
  • Use a Master Model approach.
  • Perform analysis as required.
  • Prototype hardware to support preproduction activities.
  • Support packaging and labeling.
  • Create and release drawing packages.
  • Use GD&T.
  • Perform tolerance analysis.
  • Anticipate DFM issues, inspection methods, assembly needs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support verification and validation protocols, testing, and report generation.
  • Participate in cross functional collaborations with other teams including Electrical Engineering, User Experience, Project Management, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and Manufacturing.
  • Direct suppliers and contract manufacturers including managing schedules, making design changes based on DFM input, approving first articles, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Support sustaining engineering.
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions.
  • Contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
  • Contribute to research activities.
  • Support supplier selection and qualification.
  • Use analysis and statistical techniques.
  • Develop or approve test methods and protocols.
  • Generate design risk analysis.
  • Provide technical support analyzing and/or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies and field returns.

Qualifications

  • BSME or equivalent technical discipline, with 8 plus years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to contribute technically at each stage of the New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle.
  • SolidWorks modeling expertise that includes parametric modeling, master modeling, surface modeling, welding module, sheet metal module, mold tools, engineering drawing creation including GD&T, and PDM.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and cross functional collaboration experience.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics
  • Able to travel as required up to 10%
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to meet deadlines in the context of competing priorities and projects.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process in a regulated industry or other quality-centric environment, and the related documentation requirements.

  • Injection molding expert for high production wearable devices
  • CAD/CAE (SolidWorks) expert
  • GD&T proficiency
  • Programming skills with Python or other language
  • Patent or other intellectual property achievement
  • Broad expertise and unique knowledge

Estimated Pay Range

$145,600—$185,000 USD
