The public relations function is paramount in telling the Vanguard story. Vanguard is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and outcome-oriented PR strategist to join the PR Americas leadership team. In this role, you will oversee the public relations programs and team aligned to our three U.S. client-facing divisions.

Senior PR Manager:

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Develops public relations strategy across business areas and/or countries to enable business outcomes. Provides consultation to develop public relation communications solutions that drive identified business outcomes. Translates business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content. Prioritizes communications and messages to maximize impact on target external client audiences, including the general public, customers, crew, governmental bodies, and suppliers, and the media.
  • Protects Vanguard's reputation through all public relations communications across various channels and platforms. Coordinates governance activities with senior leadership and ensures appropriate implementation. Leads communication consultants to proactively source and deliver business-critical public relations communications.
  • Drives the development of public relations agendas with high-quality communications material across a variety of formats, platforms, and channels. Applies Vanguard's style, usage, and brand standards to ensure consistency.
  • Drives the impact of the collective public relations communication strategy. Ensures the execution of all phases of the communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement. Partners closely with senior leaders to advise and develop public relations strategies that meet current and future needs of Vanguard.
  • Balances external practice with Vanguard brand. Encourages adoption as appropriate. Serves as Vanguard's authority on industry best practices, emerging trends, and their validity in Vanguard's environment.
  • Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers and executives across the organization and in the industry to support public relations and business objectives.
  • Spearheads continuous improvements in Vanguard's public relations strategy and implementation. Measures and monitors public relations satisfaction and makes recommendations based on feedback gathered from various sources.
  • Coordinates rapid response/crisis communications with appropriate internal partners.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of industry experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Public Relations degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.

Additional information:

This role is located in our Malvern, PA office and is aligned with our hybrid working model with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in the office and Monday and Friday are remote.
