Associate General Counsel for Trade Compliance

Micron is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Global Trade Compliance team. You will work with various teams across Micron to provide strategic guidance on Micron’s trade compliance program, including adherence to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC) regulations and programs, various economic and trade sanctions programs, and other applicable import/export laws and regulations.

Tasks and Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership for global trade compliance that supports global business objectives and satisfies international legal requirements both imports and exports.
  • Develop process improvements, including policies, procedures, and guidance, to ensures the integration of necessary trade compliance program elements into business functions' work streams to deliver customer excellence and compliance business strategies.
  • Liaison with Micron business functions to support compliance with local, regional, and global trade compliance operations including development of guidance on the application of global export regulations and economic sanctions to assist in development, design, and operations at Micron.
  • Manage economic sanctions program operations including denied and restricted party screening activities, training for business, and enhanced due diligence. 
  • Provide guidance regarding content origin for all preferential treatment, domestic content, and Trade Agreements Act and liaison with global team on implementation in local jurisdictions.
  • Management of trade compliance program initiatives to operational internal controls including Technology Control Plans, internal safeguards, IT controls and facility management.
  • Support internal and external self-assessments and audit commitments, including responsibilities for process enhancements and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for development of and ensuring adequate training is provided to internal business functions and business stakeholders regarding export controls and economic sanctions.

Primary Job Qualifications:

  • JD Degree required.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years of experience working in export controls and economic sanctions compliance.
  • Expertise in the U.S. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, etc.) and strong understanding of the APAC and EU regulations.
  • Project management expertise a plus.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver trade compliance training and briefings to internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make impactful decisions.
  • Flexible and able to balance multiple priorities at once and ability to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs.
  • Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” as defined in the ITAR and EAR.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$146,000.00 - $274,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
