Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As a Senior Design Developer – Advanced Concepts, you bring your curiosity to find creative solutions for a better way to innovate product for the mountain athlete. You are a passionate builder, who creates concepts that inspire discovery and experimentation. The role focuses on equipment (harnesses, packs, accessories) but you also support apparel and other categories when needed. In close collaboration with cross functional teams, you manage progress from conception through to a scalable proof of concept.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

The Advanced Concepts team drives breakthrough innovation in snow, trail and climb for the mountain athlete as well as our Professional category including LEAF. Fueled by curiosity, we take a holistic approach to identifying future needs and tangible solutions across advanced materials, products, technologies, and experiences. We are a team of builders, problem solvers and outdoor enthusiasts. Our in-house end-to-end capabilities in research, engineering, design, development, digital and validation allow us to innovate head-to-toe solutions that bring the coast mountain experience to the world. If you were in the Senior Design Developer role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

• Developing unique and resolved solutions through patterning and prototyping in support of Advanced Concepts projects, ensuring alignment with Arc'teryx design philosophies
• Leading complex and challenging projects
• Providing guidance and mentorship to other Design Developers
• Collaborating with Designers, Pattern Makers, and Product Developers on new construction processes, techniques and manufacturing solutions that meet Arc’teryx requirements
• Building partial or complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be tested, reviewed, and validated
• Working closely with our Pattern Making, Product Development and Fit and Pattern Engineering teams to validate and implement new fit and pattern standards
• Testing various materials to assess suitability for various construction techniques and end uses, providing recommendations on final selection, as well as diligently documenting information and results throughout the process
• Providing guidance to the Sample and Design teams, responding to problems as they arise
• Helping to develop proprietary solutions with unique intellectual properties
• Supporting in compilation of project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
• Contributing to the future of Arc’teryx product circularity initiatives and goals

• Building a proof-of-concept product for one of our Mountain Professionals to put to the test
• Collaborating with our ARC’One factory to fast-track new innovations
• Supporting with exploring new product categories beyond where we are today

Are you our next Senior Design Developer?

• You have 7+ years’ experience working in a technical design environment
• You have a diploma or degree in fashion design, industrial design or the equivalent experience
• You are an expert level sewer, builder, and patternmaker, with CAD experience (Gerber, Clo3D, Solidworks or the equivalent)
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to pick up new computer applications quickly
• You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
• You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
• You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration
• You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
• You seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
• Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
• A strong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and interest/involvement in activities Arc’teryx makes products for
