As a Business Development Sales Representative, you will be responsible for the selling of professional engineering services and the development of new work. A combination of in-office development activity, outside sales to qualified targets, and selected marketing activities will provide a challenge to an energetic, self-motivated, and career minded candidate. Our ideal candidate will source new clients, generate leads, qualify prospects and manage the assigned sales functions as part of the UES sales team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify prospective clients and pursue major potential projects
  • Schedule and execute outside sales meetings
  • Assist with internal proposal processes
  • Assist/attend marketing and networking events (may occur in the evenings and/or on weekends)
  • Use UES databases (CRM) for all activity records
  • Provide weekly sales summary to the director in charge of the Business Development (BD) team
  • Attend weekly internal sales meetings with the BD team
  • Regular local travel for sales meetings and some infrequent overnight travel will be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Required: 4-year degree or relevant certification
  • Preferred: 1-5 years of related work experience in the A/E/C industry

Skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business memos, periodicals, professional journals, proposals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers and the general public
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and additional computer programs

  • Must be able to use technology efficiently including computers, computer software and phones
  • Must be a problem solver and have the ability to think through and solve problems that may arise
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans
  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume comparable to basic concepts of algebra and geometry

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • The work setting is in an office atmosphere and remote setting 
  • There is exposure to moderate levels of noise that could include a business office with computers and printers with light traffic throughout
  • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, transport, and focus vision on the computer
  • This employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20lbs.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings to include background and reference checks
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and a good driving record
