Job Description:

We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated person with an Engineering or Computer Science background to join our Software team in the Communication Business Unit at Microchip. We are building software for the high performance System on Chip (SoC) devices developed by our hardware teams. These SoC products contain clusters of CPUs, data switching subsystems and a variety of high speed and low speed interfaces. They support the aerospace and communications markets as well as a growing number of applications in next generation embedded systems. One of our development projects is described in this release: https://www.nasa.gov/high-performance-spaceflight-computing-hpsc/.

Our focus is on technical excellence, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvements in an open and encouraging environment. If you have a strong technical background in firmware, software, embedded systems, architecture and product development then this is the position for you!

As a Technical Staff Engineer, you will be part of a team of professionals working in an Agile development team environment which uses Scrum, Pair-programming, and Test Driven Development practices. We use these practices to collaboratively design, implement and test code for our devices running Hypervisors and various OS/RTOSs on ARM, RISC-V and Intel processors. The code we develop for our high performance embedded processors allows for next generation algorithms and systems development in a range of applications that run on Linux/VxWorks/FreeRTOS, XEN Hypervisor, multi-CPU clusters, ethernet switches, high speed interfaces (PCIe/CXL) and memory & peripheral interfaces. You’ll be able to use your detailed experience in one or more of these areas towards building the next generation of products.

You will participate in all stages of the project including requirements capture, architectural design, planning, detailed design, implementation, and system level discussion with hardware architects and customers. This work spans the pre-silicon development phase, which uses FPGA-based prototyping platforms and the post-silicon phase which uses lab-based evaluation boards.
