Summary

The Director of Construction Management is responsible for Project Delivery Field Installation and testing and has overall responsibility for project installations throughout the Subway, Bus, and Railroad field environments. The Director manages all construction activities and processes to confirm compliance with professional industry and MTA C&D standards. This position reviews project schedules and coordinates with stakeholders and contractors for support services needed to advance the Field installation and Testing process. The Director will have decision-making authority and staffing oversight responsibilities to accomplish these objectives. The Director will also be required to provide input into the overall strategy and approach for the area they manage and to recommend and, in consultation with senior managers, implement changes for the betterment of the Contracts.

Responsibilities

Oversees field installation and/or quality assurance/testing team.

Manages processes, drafts, reviews, and edits project delivery documents for accuracy and ensures that contract requirements are adhered to for the efficient operation of the New Fare Payment System.

Manages and allocates constructability review team members to project schedules/milestones.

Responsible for monitoring and/or auditing third-party technical design and construction activities for compliance with the contract's requirements.

Remains current with trends necessary to deliver cogent, enforceable construction and construction-related contracts designed to achieve and provide desired project benefits.

Create and contribute to reports and presentations generated for MTA agency executives and senior staff on matters related to delivering the MTA's capital program.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.

Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.

Must have a minimum of at least five (5) years in the management of construction projects or supervisory roles in a large, multi-faceted organization.

Competencies:

Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable.

PMP and CCM Certifications are preferred. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.

Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.

Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).
