Schedule: Monday through Friday School days 7:45am to 3:00 pm

Pay Range: $52-95,000 salary for 10-month school year; depending on education and experience.

Location: School-based role at Elwyn's Davidson School in Media, PA

POSITION SUMMARY: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), in collaboration with the psychologist and Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) treatment team, designs, develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates an individualized resiliency plan including behavioral interventions and protocols for each assigned client. The BCBA provides expertise with meeting the needs of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Intellectual Disabilities (ID), and/or other behavioral and communication disorders in the analysis of behavioral problems, their functions, and in developing effective treatments based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and practice within the setting of homes, school, and communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes relevant assessment tools e.g. the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VBMapp), Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (ABAS), Vineland, Questions About Behavior Function (QABF), Preference assessments, Functional Assessment Screening Tool (FAST), reinforcer assessments and data collection procedures to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
  • Uses results of FBA to determine function of target behaviors and develop behavioral interventions and protocols based on ABA methodology to reduce target behaviors and teach new skills
  • Develops individualized resiliency plan including treatment goals and objectives based on FBA results and ABA methodology in conjunction with all team members including, but not limited to, client, parents/caregivers, Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT), Mobile therapist (MT), school personnel, other providers, and Managed Care Organizations (MCO)
  • Collects, analyzes and graphs behavioral data from BHT progress notes or own observations/data collection
  • Maintains weekly contact with assigned client's treatment teams to coordinate services
  • Facilitates Interagency Services Planning Team (ISPT) meetings to review and revise resiliency plans (as needed) and to develop a strategy for the next authorization period
  • Completes all documentation including but not limited to:
  • Functional Behavior Assessment including collection/interpretation of data and graphs
  • Resiliency plan
  • Input form
  • Required assessment/ outcomes tools
  • Authorization packet
  • Weekly paperwork
  • BHT progress notes
  • Provides direct, clinical supervision to all assigned BHTs including development/ updating BHT progress note and providing BHT with copy of updated resiliency plan
  • Provides on site assessment and assistance to all newly assigned BHTs
  • Provides direct supervision and training for BHTs, parents, caregivers, day care personnel and school personnel in the implementation of behavioral interventions/protocols, reinforcement procedures, data collection, ongoing assessment, and progress monitoring of all aspects of assigned clients
  • Consults with the treatment team in the ongoing assessment, evaluation, implementation, and progress monitoring of the resiliency plan and behavioral interventions by providing expertise in all aspects of ABA interventions for the assigned population
  • Provides clinical direction related to behavioral interventions and strategies during family sessions and ISPT meetings
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with clients and families to support the treatment process
  • Leads staff and/or parent group training in various topics including but not limited to ABA, data collection, and graphing
  • Meets requirements for attending monthly supervision with the Clinical Director
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and restrictive procedures and manual restraints using agency-trained protocols
  • Performs other duties as assigned

DIRECT REPORTS: None

CONTACTS: Clients, caregivers/parents, IBHS staff, psychologist, school personnel, other providers, social service agencies, MCO (Managed Care Organizations), county representatives, and advocacy groups

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current and actively (practicing) Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
  • Current Pennsylvania Behavioral Specialist License (LBS)
  • Expertise working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioral and communication disorders
  • Experience with data collection and graphing
  • Experience with administering the VBMAPP, ABAS, Preference Assessments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform CPR and restrictive procedures and manual restraints using agency-trained protocols
  • Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Publisher experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
  • Must be available and willing to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends
  • Must be available and willing to travel within Delaware County
