Fixed Income Investment Risk Management

You will be the risk manager for BlackRock’s US Credit platform including investment grade credit, high yield, loans, CLO and distressed investing. You will partner with the fixed income investment team to deliver independent risk oversight, risk advice, and provide quantitative analysis to assist with portfolio construction, product design and investor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

The RQA Fixed Income risk team is seeking a senior candidate with credit risk management experience to support the risk management efforts of our ~$100B Global Credit platform. Responsibilities include both day-to-day risk management and contribution to strategic projects to enhance risk and portfolio management processes.

  • Function as the lead risk manager overseeing BlackRock’s High Yield, Loans, CLO and Investment Grade Credit businesses.
  • Manage business relationships with head of the Credit business and lead portfolio managers, both as an independent risk fiduciary and a value-add partner.
  • Provide independent, constructive challenge of portfolio risk taking, exposure, portfolio construction and performance analysis.
  • Provide day-to-day risk management to portfolio managers and credit investors. Conduct regular risk meetings with analyses and deep dives on risk and performance to portfolio management teams.
  • Perform quantitative analysis to help investors understand credit risk analytics, credit risk models, performance attribution and help improve investment process.
  • Partner with BlackRock Aladdin risk modeling team to deliver state-of-the-practice credit risk analytics and credit risk models through the Aladdin platform.
  • Work with RQA and Aladdin technology teams to improve risk reporting infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with peers in RQA investment risk and enterprise risk, manage and develop junior team talents.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline and 10+years of work experience in fixed income and especially credit markets
  • Strong knowledge of credit market, credit investment and credit risk management for buy-side credit portfolio management required.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk models and credit risk analytics, demonstrated experience in working with risk modelers to enhance credit risk models based on risk and investment needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and oral/written communication skills. Ability to communicate, influence and engage with senior level portfolio managers on risk discussions.
  • Strong technical skills and programming skills in Python, familiarity with BlackRock’s Aladdin risk system is a strong plus.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $205,000 - $260,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
