Responsibilities

  • Engineering Technicians provide support to the USG Public Works Directorate by performing assigned tasks.
  • Engineering design and support services include maintaining the engineering drawing library and database; clerical support including scanning drawings, documents, and copying/printing; material testing; concrete compression strength testing; slump test and aggregate analysis.
  • Perform support services to ensure engineering and technical documentation is maintained current and made available in a timely manner and as specified.
  • Provide support services for developing and completing 1391s, Site Approvals, Scope of Work development for requirements and Environmental review.
  • Ensure design and study review comments are provided within the specified time.
  • Create and maintain Plans, Files and Drawing Updates using the latest version of Auto CADD.
  • Update facility plans, building files, GIS files and engineering drawings to ensure information is properly documented in a timely manner.
  • Update installation plans, facility plans, building history files, street address listings and engineering drawings.
  • Ensure plans, files, and drawings are current and accurate and updated within the specified time.
  • Provide as-built drawings for engineering projects.
  • Keep an accurate record of all project and reference drawings and their revision status on the Master Drawing.
  • Maintain control and operate a technical library to ensure technical documents and reference materials are properly maintained and made available in a timely manner.
  • Identify drawing with an established numbering system (American Institute of Architects Standard) and revision number to ensure that they are identifiable and retrievable.
  • Maintain and create drawings and related design work using utility maps in ESRI ArcGIS geodatabase.
  • Maintain control of the inventory and operate the technical library ensuring it is complete and current. Ensure requested copies of technical documents and reference materials are complete, legible, and provided within the specified time.
  • Perform various Engineering design and support services which include but are not limited to the following functions: engineering drafting including use of AutoCAD (latest revision) and making changes to engineering drawings, land surveying.
  • Perform other duties and assignments, as required.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent in general high school studies.
  • Autodesk certified professional and training preferred.
  • Associate degree in an engineering field preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Autodesk certified professional and training. Experience may be substituted for a certification.
  • Certified GIS Professional. Experience may be substituted for a certification.
  • Experience:
  • Five years' experience in using recent versions of AutoCAD in preparing architectural, mechanical, electrical, and/or civil drawings required. DoD experience preferred.
