The Position

The Director, Global Market Access & Pricing (GMAP), is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of access, pricing, and reimbursement strategies for our hemorrhage control device, which is intended to provide control and treatment of abnormal postpartum uterine bleeding or hemorrhage when conservative management is warranted. This position will focus on ex-US launches. The successful candidate will also be responsible for Life Cycle Management for current and pipeline devices and Business Development assessments for medical devices that Organon may evaluate/acquire. The GMAP director is responsible for leading a cross functional team to design (global strategy) and execute (country support) an integrated global access and pricing strategy for the hemorrhage control devices and future medical devices.

In this role, the director is a member of the global commercial cross functional team(s) and secures that access, pricing and reimbursement strategies are incorporated within the over-all commercial plan. In this capacity, the director will lead the development of access & pricing strategy, value proposition, reimbursement strategy, tactics to support country execution in collaboration with Marketing, Outcomes Research, Medical Affairs, Policy, Communications, and key markets and regions.

This individual will lead efforts to provide access and pricing assumptions into product forecasts, including business development assessments. This role requires overseeing the design, development, and training of value communication tools for key global, regional, and country stakeholders to prepare for stakeholder engagement and access negotiations and to take informed positions related to price, value and affordability challenges at the appropriate time of product development. We are looking for a highly effective leader that can work across cross-functional teams including commercial, medical affairs, outcomes research, research & development, manufacturing and ex-us geographies. The candidate should have Market Access and Pricing experience in the medical device space in at least one European markets, preferably 2 or more and regional/global positions. The candidate should have strong commercial and scientific acumen, business development experience and an ability to manage through the access and pricing complexities associated with medical devices. Candidate should be willing to adjust responsibilities dependent on Organon’s focus and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and articulate unmet needs, current & future access landscape and access pathways, pricing dynamics, key customers, stakeholders, and decision makers to develop access strategy and plan, which incorporates opportunities and addresses risks.
  • Identify and assess the pricing drivers and barriers to achieve product recommendations and reimbursement by market archetype to inform access scenarios, value evidence needs (Value Pack), and execution plan to optimize access.
  • Value Pack: collaborate with Outcomes Research and Medical Affairs colleagues in the development of real-world evidence and economic models and/or analyses, driven by a clear understanding of what countries need and when, including economic messages that Key Account Managers will require in the hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with Policy in the assessment of and development of action plan to shape value frameworks and other policies impacting access for our medical devices, including addressing affordability.
  • Develop value proposition and messages and communication resources and train county colleagues in their use and preparation for key stakeholder engagements and negotiations.
  • Develop pricing strategy to enable product access scenarios. Train country colleagues on interpretation and application of pricing strategies and assess pricing action requests and seek approval according to Global Pricing governance, for assigned markets.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Education Minimum Requirement: BA/BS.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the following functional areas: Developing and executing Market Access, Pricing/Reimbursement strategies in medical devices and at least 3 years in at least 1 European Country.
  • Demonstrated ability to distill down and synthesize complex information from various resources into insights and actions.
  • Experience successfully leading cross functional matrix teams and working with country teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influencing, negotiating, conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong commercial orientation and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong project management and operational skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • Market Access & Pricing Strategy development and operations support at a regional (European) or Global level in medical devices.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems, hospital systems and reimbursement methods, including health technology assessments of major countries.
  • Knowledge and application of outcomes research, health economic tools and techniques.
  • New Product and/or Scientific Strategy (scientific platform) experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, develop and communicate scientific based strategies and messages.
  • Knowledge and Experience with Women’s Health devices.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, health policy, or health economics.
