Job Objective:

As the Community Engagement Director, you will provide leadership and oversight to the Membership team, Events, and Marketing while ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out. 

What You Will Do:

  • Provide oversight, support, strategic guidance, and development of management and staff in Membership Services (Membership Manager, MOD’s and Welcome Desk Staff), Events Scholarship and Membership Coordinator, Marketing, and other areas as assigned
  • Promote and facilitate a culture of environment in which excellent customer service and hospitality thrives and service first mentality flourishes
  • Actively engage with business and community organizations, as assigned by the General Manager
  • Set and execute a strategic plan for the revenue enhancement and service components of the Kroc Center including Membership, Guest Fees, Rentals and Partner usage that supports the appropriate growth and the overall financial health of the organization.
  • Actively engage with business and community organizations, to foster healthy community relationships and to explore areas of opportunity to further the mission of the Kroc Center
  • Provide professional and effective oral and written communication in executing contracts, agreements and MOU’s as required, insuring the adherence to established TSA minute guidelines and approval protocols for these documents
  • Champion effective personal management process to include, but not limited to effective mentor, discipline, coaching, recognition, recruitment, and development of all levels of staff within assigned areas
  • Ensure adherence to risk management and emergency procedures as well as all established TSA policies and procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: BA Degree from accredited college or university in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience and training

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in similar responsibilities or equivalent in the promotion and/or sales function of similar programs and/or services.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience supervision and managing staff.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training and CPR Certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems

Supervisory Responsibility: Advanced supervision - Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for staff, ensuring quality and quantity of work. Holds decision making authority for employee life-cycle activities including hiring, promotions, and performance management.

  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: As needed

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment; may require some weekend and evening work

  • Paid holidays are effective immediately.
