The Role: Business Management/Data Analyst

The Team: Our team is responsible for business management activities within the Technology group of OSTTRA including Technology Budget Management, Purchase request to Purchase order processes, the streamlining of business processes, and being enablers for the overall success of the Technology group. By optimizing business processes, headcount activities and ensuring seamless purchase order and invoice management, this role directly impacts the organization’s operational efficiency, cost effectiveness and productivity.

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, Macros, and Google Sheets to analyze and interpret complex datasets related to headcount reports and other relevant metrics.
  • Generate meaningful insights and trends, providing accurate and timely reports to support decision-making processes.

Dashboard Preparation and Automation:

  • Develop and maintain automated dashboards using Excel and Google Sheets, ensuring efficient data visualization and accessibility for management.
  • Implement macros and automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance reporting efficiency.

Data Navigation and Cleansing:

  • Navigate through large datasets, identifying discrepancies, errors, or anomalies in the data.
  • Conduct data cleansing and validation procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports and dashboards.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and data needs.
  • Effectively communicate insights and findings to management, providing actionable recommendations based on data analysis.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and advancements in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data analysis and reporting activities.

Documentation and Training:

  • Document data analysis methodologies, processes, and automation scripts for future reference.
  • Provide training and support to team members utilizing Excel, Google Sheets, and other data analysis tools effectively.

Additional Responsibilities:

Purchase Order and Invoice Process Management:

  • Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and invoices, leveraging data analysis skills to identify and resolve discrepancies, streamline workflows, and contribute to overall financial process efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Exceptional data analytical skills: The candidate should possess a strong background in data analysis, including proficiency in statistical analysis, data visualization, and the ability to draw actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data presentation: The candidate should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including functions, formulas, and data representation. Additionally, they should be skilled in creating visually appealing and informative presentations to effectively communicate data-driven insights. Experience in Google Sheets will also be beneficial.
  • Data-driven and detail-oriented: The ideal candidate should have a strong orientation towards data and possess excellent attention to detail. They should be able to collect, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data accurately, making data-driven decisions and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and soft skills: Effective communication is crucial for this role. The candidate should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex data findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, they should have strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and be a collaborative team player.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science).
  • 2 to 4 years of proven work experience as a Data Analyst with a focus on Excel and Google Sheets expertise.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency in creating visually appealing and insightful dashboards.
