Director, Finance – FP&A

Location: San Jose, CA OR Chandler, AZ

Duties & Responsibilities:

Position Description:

VIAVI Solutions is seeking an experienced Director, Finance with exceptional FP&A experience to lead and grow the FP&A team for the NSE Business Segment of VIAVI with an annual revenue of $750M. The NSE business operates in a fast-paced technology environment with Business Units and manufacturing locations across the globe.

As the Director, Finance of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will be responsible for the consolidated financial analysis, reporting, planning and forecasting across the entire NSE business segment.

This role requires good business acumen to understand the different business units and collaboration with their leadership teams to translate operating results comprehensively in terms of analysis, reporting, planning and forecasting.

You will be working very closely with the Corporate FP&A Corporate Accounting teams as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of monthly financial metrics as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. The position will be responsible for several areas of the month-end NSE segment reporting process and related analytics. The position will serve as the key point of contact for several key areas of the FP&A process, specifically the annual budget and forecasting initiatives for the NSE segment.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identify trends and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align financial strategies with overall business goals.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to management and other stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Comfortable jumping in to support a wide variety of projects and initiatives, utilizing your strong business partnering skills. Respond to ad hoc requests from business partners including the CEO and/or the CFO.
  • Seek opportunities to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Critical Success Factors:

  • You will have a strong background and understanding of key accounting, financial analysis, and benchmarking and variance analysis in a fast paced, ever changing technology environment that requires strong analytical skills; together with the ability to produce coherent and succinct management reporting and analysis.
  • You will have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills as this role requires collaboration across many functions and stakeholders across all levels of VIAVI.

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably a major in accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other financial certifications would be preferred.
  • Candidate must possess excellent financial and business analysis, systems skills. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with Oracle/SAP, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, MS Access is desirable.
