Head of Global Business Development

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated business development executive to build and lead our new business development efforts. You will be a senior individual contributor responsible for driving our largest most strategic deals globally. You will understand the market landscape, align with our internal product & strategy teams, and then target and execute key deals to accelerate Adyen’s growth. 

You are comfortable working as part of a cross functional team, engaging with executives at all levels both internally and with some of the largest companies in the world, and are confident in owning and exceeding revenue growth targets. 

What you’ll do

  • Define our new partner strategy for Partnerships that support Adyen’s objectives and align with our global Partnerships team 
  • Be an active leader in the Global Partnerships Leadership team helping up-level the entire organization with the necessary skills, strategic insight, and focus on impact;
  • Prioritize potential partner opportunities and individually help deliver on the highest impact opportunities to deliver on commercial goals;
  • Be commercially aware and able to make business decisions that support the wider commercial team;
  • Serve as a senior executive stakeholder, providing strategic and consultative advice to influence the payments strategy of our partners;
  • Recruit the right partners to open up new business opportunities and sectors;
  • Work closely with Marketing, Product and Sales teams to ensure effective collaboration;
  • Motivate and coach team members, and encourage creativity and autonomy; even with them not directly reporting to you
  • Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication / feedback culture.

Who you are

  • 15+ years of experience in a related role, preferably in payments or fintech, including executive deals with some of the largest companies in the world
  • An energetic self-starter with proven commercial edge, a track record of delivering results and the ability to build long term relationships;
  • Comfortable and excited by being responsible for commercial goals and creating a measurable impact for the business;
  • Can balance strategic thinking with world-class execution (brilliant basics);
  • An excellent communicator and team player with strong leadership skills and technical understanding.

  • Based in San Francisco
  • Domestic and International travel required
