Job Summary
Responsible for establishing and managing a vendor matrix to source high quality Own Brand products based on a deep understanding of vendor process and production capabilities that delivers against member-centric product goals, profitability, and operational objectives. Partners with current and prospective BJ’s suppliers to negotiate the best possible cost considering the product objectives, supply chain / operational needs of the business. Works with a cross functional Own Brand team (comprised of Own Brand Management, Product Development, Packaging Design and Quality) to execute a roadmap of projects that deliver top and bottom-line Own Brand growth.
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Leads vendor sourcing initiatives that deliver outstanding product quality and advance the profitability of BJ’s Own Brand products
- Partners with the Own Brand Manager and Merchant teams to understand the strategic initiatives of the business and defines a sourcing strategy that meets the needs of our members and our business
- Establishes and manages the vendor matrix for a set of categories to meet current and future product and operational needs, provide contingencies and manage risk
- Negotiates product cost based on a strong understanding of cost drivers including geography, packaging, shipping, transportation, order volumes and frequency to deliver strong value to BJs members and profitability to the business
- Works closely with the planning and allocation team to understand their needs and objectives and remediate operational issues that arise
- Implements strategies to advance responsible sourcing objectives that support BJ’s objectives for sustainability and social responsibility
- Stratifies and manages vendor relationships to advance mutual financial and partnership objectives
- Applies an understanding of global trade to shape sourcing strategies, manage business needs and deliver strong results
Qualifications
- 7+ Years of international or domestic sourcing or merchandising experience
- Significant negotiations experience
- Track record of driving exceptional results in a cross functional environment
- Strong analytical and financial skills
- Working knowledge of product manufacturing
- Strong curiosity, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills – thrives in a team environment
- Project management skills
- Exceptional prioritization ability focused on delivering against most important outcomes and influencing key stakeholders
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
Years of Experience
- 7+ Years’ Experience in retail sourcing or merchandising

At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $122,500.00.
