About the role:

As a Senior Product Manager at Instrumentl, you’ll create, own, and execute the product roadmap to ensure non-profits love Instrumentl for post-award grant management. There are many complex, cross-functional workflows (like financial, tracking, reporting, and more) that grant managers must navigate during the grant lifecycle, and Instrumentl (already recognized as an industry leader in the pre-award space) is focused on making these seamless, collaborative, and delightful.

This role reports to Instrumentl's Head of Product, Ishita Arora, and is a part of the broader product and design team with ~3 product designers and ~3 product managers.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • A seasoned “full-stack” product manager: You comfortably traverse the product stack–whether it’s strategic planning and prioritization for the product roadmap or zooming in at the 1 inch view to ensure we’ve thought through all the edge cases for a feature.
  • High ownership and high agency: Your past teammates would describe you as proactive, high velocity, and high ownership. You’ve never uttered the words “that’s not my job” when it’s about getting a feature over the finish line.
  • Customer-obsessed: You believe customers are the hero of the story, and integrate customer feedback throughout the product development process–whether it’s teaming up with design to conduct user research or synthesizing customer insights from sales and customer success calls.
  • Data-driven: When it comes to making decisions as well as measuring the success of your work, you go the extra mile to collect both qualitative and quantitative data to inform conclusions.
  • Cross-functionally collaborative: You excel at fostering relationships across the organization, from engineering and design to sales, marketing, and customer success because you understand that the best solutions come from the intersection of different perspectives, and you harness this collective wisdom to drive the product forward.

Must Haves

  • 6+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS (with at least 3 years during which you’ve owned the significant product area from product strategy to roadmap to feature execution.)
  • An obsessive attention to detail due the complexity of this product area. You’ve worked on complex B2B features in the past that require sweating the details, diving into domain expertise, and mapping out numerous edge cases.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills for strategy, roadmap and feature decision-making and prioritization.
  • Excellent communication skills that flex based on whether you’re presenting product strategy to the leadership team, working with sales on positioning a feature, or digging into a technical challenge with engineering.

Bonus points (if any of these apply, please highlight in your application!)

  • You’ve built products for non-profits, small businesses or other users who are not always the most technologically-savvy.
  • You have deep experience in the non-profit sector (particularly around grant management.)
  • Your work experience ranges across different stages of tech including at least 1 Series A/B/C company that’s grown rapidly during your tenure.
  • A product “portfolio” that dives into the complex B2B SaaS problems you’ve worked on in your career.
  • In addition to core B2B SaaS, you’ve worked as a growth PM before (this role may have an opportunity to do some growth PM moonlighting if there’s interest or expertise.)

What to expect:

Instrumentl is evolving rapidly. You’ll always have new challenges and opportunities to grow in your role here - you won’t be bored! You’ll be an early member of our small but mighty team, playing a huge part in shaping our culture for the years and teammates to come.
