Job Description:

Summary:

The Software Engineer in Test will design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and to develop solutions for effective and efficient test execution for various types of applications (API, UI, ETL, Database, and Mobile). This position applies appropriate test automation technologies to meet the short-term and long-term goals of the testing organization. An understanding of different technologies is required for a Software Engineer in Test; as well as a growing willingness to learn new tools and technologies, solve problems related to the use and implementation of automation tools and provide comprehensive reports and deliverables summarizing all automation test findings and results.

Essential Accountabilities:

Level I

  • Actively participates in team and project meetings while working collaboratively with other team members to understand project objectives and gather automation requirements.
  • Remains current in all automation technologies related to software and applications testing.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams across various disciplines (such as Android, iOS, APIs, Web, Facets etc.).
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the automation tools, frameworks, and execution of test scripts and suites.
  • Analyzes, identifies, and implements automated test cases and frameworks.
  • Follows automation test engineering best practices, test strategies, and principles.
  • Participates in test framework code reviews to ensure automation quality standards are met.
  • Follows defect tracking processes using the defect tracking tool.
  • Supports teams in triaging test results to resolve issues with automated test cases.
  • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct and Leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Level II (in addition to Level I Accountabilities)

  • Identifies opportunities to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develops and improves standards and processes as required to increase the efficiency of requirements, design, development, testing, load, and deployment activities.
  • Designs test automation frameworks per best practices, such as polymorphism, encapsulation, and utilizing other object-oriented concepts.
  • Provides high-level guidance during automation code reviews to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Works with external vendors to manage project tasks and ensure automated frameworks, standards and best practices are followed.

Level III (in addition to Level II Accountabilities)

  • Mentors’ members of the team on test automation practices.
  • Collaborates with all the testing teams and partners throughout the organization improve software application testing processes, tools, and methodology.
  • Develops high quality automation test engineering best practices, test strategies, and principles.
  • Assesses risk for large critical projects and determines appropriate levels of automated testing.
  • Closely monitors industry trends in the test automation tool space.
  • Develops proof of concepts as needed to improve test automation coverage.
  • Influences and collaborates with other senior members of the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

All Levels

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field. In lieu of degree six (6) cumulative years of technical or related experience required.
  • Object oriented programming experience required.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience with problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform in a focused and methodical manner with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Basic understanding of software testing processes, tools, and methodology.

Level II (in addition to Level I Qualifications)

  • Four (4) years of related work experience with test automation implementation in Open Source and/or Commercial automation tools (i.e., Java/Selenium, UFT/VBScript, Python, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of Object-Oriented Concepts.
  • Experience increasing automated test coverage over time.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and working with SQL and/or No SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with source control (i.e., GIT, ALM, etc.).
  • Knowledge of testing distributed, open systems, or web applications.
  • Experience with product development methodologies such as agile, etc.
  • Experience mentoring testers without prior automation experience to use automated tools and frameworks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Health care processes and procedures such as enrollment, billing, rates, claims, and referrals is a nice-to-have.
  • Experience with the Facets application is a nice-to-have.

Level III (in addition to Level II Qualifications)

  • Six (6) years of experience performing test automation scripting/coding with either Open Source and/or Commercial automation tools or coding/development with object-oriented programming languages required.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members on test automation tools and techniques required.
  • Experience with data modeling for test automation framework configuration, and validation.
  • Experience with UML and/or Process Diagraming is a nice-to-have.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to complete work in a traditional office environment under fluorescent lighting.
  • Must be able to function while sitting at a desk viewing a computer and using a keyboard and mouse for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across regions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Compensation Range(s):

Grade 209 Minimum:75,816 Maximum: 140,254

Grade 210 Minimum: 85,446 Maximum: 158,080

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.
