Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager is an integral role within the Americas Healthcare business unit and will deploy technical project management methodologies and tools to implement process and systems improvements. These include software implementations/upgrades, operational efficiencies, and organizational changes. The Senior Project Manager has responsibility for managing and executing large cross-functional projects within the Americas Healthcare business unit. The position will work cross-functionally with groups such as Sales, Service, Marketing, Training, Finance, Operations, and IT with the objective of driving projects to completion, on time and at/under budget.

Duties

  1. Responsible for managing project risks, dependencies, issues and communicating project status and progress to stakeholders
  2. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and business process owners, to ensure successful project execution 
  3. Works with Senior Manager on establishing defined project management standards and best practices for supporting technical and Healthcare business unit projects
  4. Partners with senior level Healthcare leadership on projects including strategic alignment projects, systems creation/enhancements, and routine management
  5. Creates budget to support project through deliverable identification, resource allocation and cost estimation
  6. Manages and leads projects through all stages from initiation through closure
  7. Define, develop and implement specific improvement opportunities as they relate to the efficiency and profitability of the Americas Healthcare business unit
  8. Lead the planning, directing, coordinating and driving of multiple projects, varying in size and scope and recommend revisions in project work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  9. Facilitates the definition of projects’ scope, goals and deliverables throughout the initiation phase
  10. Manages multiple cross-functional projects using formal project management methodologies
  11. Coordinates intradepartmental projects and resources as required
  12. Maintains project plans that accurately reflect task owners, completed and future work including timelines, milestones and dependencies
  13. Identify and define resource requirements and assignments
  14. Manage all STERIS and non-STERIS resources assigned to the effort, including defining each team member’s role and responsibility
  15. Effectively apply stage/gate methodology and enforce project standards
  16. Prepare and present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  17. Develop a project agenda and prioritize based on impact and timelines
  18. Drive project teams to make decisions, complete tasks, and execute the plan based on defined deliverables and timelines 
  19. Develop scorecards and metrics for each initiative to track progress and share with leadership and team members
  20. Use Lean philosophies and methodology for process improvement
  21. Prepare, conduct and facilitate Kaizen events as needed
  22. Gather statistical data to support identified opportunities
  23. Measure implemented solutions

Change Management

  1. Document new processes and procedures
  2. Implement process, technology or organizational changes based on determined solutions
  3. Prepare and deliver all communications related to the initiative
  4. Prepare comprehensive implementation plans 
  5. Ensure a smooth transition from recommendation to implementation including the preparation of performance metrics from which progress will be gauged

Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • 10 years of business experience
  • 5+ years of experience of successful management of major business projects and programs from concept to implementation 
  • Experience in Customer Service, Supply Chain and/or Finance required
  • Lean/5S experience required

Preferred Experience

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

  9. Demonstrated analytical and project management skills including data gathering, analysis, development of recommendations and creation of project plans
  10. Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity
  11. Deep appreciation for quality control
  12. Excellent formal presentation skills before small and large groups
