The Marketing department creates passion and relevance for the "Dolby Difference" driving sell-in and sell-thru of Dolby enabled devices, services, content, and experiences across multiple constituents – partners, creators, consumers, and developers.

We are seeking a User Experience Design Manager/sr mgr to help create our future product experiences and lead experiential design that showcases the Dolby brand & value. The ideal candidate will be able to conceptualize and execute designs that help bring our products/technology to life and effectively communicate the story of our brand.

This role will work on new product innovation and experiential design. Collaborating closely with a cross-functional groups including, Advanced Technology (R&D), events, marketing & branded creative content. This role will also be responsible for working autonomously with technical and/or events teams, in addition to guiding /managing/ mentoring junior designers, agencies & vendors. 

A core focus will be on developing experience design strategy and reference designs for future forward innovation AND being hands-on with physical/digital experiential design - considering user journey, UX, environmental design, audio/video/interactive technology, and digital touchpoints. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the user experience in new product innovation initiatives. Leading discovery and design thinking projects. Generate innovative experiences that push boundaries and can inform our product roadmap
  • Prototype new concepts quickly to express, learn and iterate on experiences, features, and ideas.
  • Conceptualize and design immersive experiences that showcase our entertainment technology at events, digitally, or at retail. 
  • Feel comfortable working, extending, and managing other design areas that collectively come together in experiential design – specifically UX design, graphic design, & branded goods. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external agencies / vendors to develop design solutions in a fast paced environment
  • Hands on designer with the ability to generate renderings, wireframes, plan views, & prototypes. 
  • Manage the execution of experiences, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and meet our design intent.
  • Research and explore new trends and technologies to new products and ways to bring our brand product experiences to life.
  • Inspire and work closely with technical / engineering teams to incubate and execute fresh ideas
  • Work directly with cross functional stakeholders to understand needs and goals, then develop creative, innovative experiences to meet them
  • Oversee the work of junior designers and vendors to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Be in-tune with social media, and how to weave community reach into creative activations. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of design experience with a portfolio that shows a solid design process and execution
  • Proven ability to create and execute innovative design concepts that effectively communicate brand messaging and product features.
  • Proficiency in design and rendering software such as Figma, SketchUp, Rhino3D, Revit and KeyShot (or comparable tools).
  • Generate conceptual illustrations, mockups, etc. leveraging Adobe CS
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex workstreams and oversee vendor deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and requirements to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong creative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with immersive technologies, virtual reality, and augmented reality
  • Experience with marketing research
  • Strong strategic/conceptual thinker, able to see the campaign’s big picture, and eager to engage in strategic discussions
  • Outstanding story-telling capabilities that can be utilized to sell creative concepts and to develop compelling content that inspires action
  • Ability to interpret a brief and develop work that strategically addresses business

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $131,100 - $ 157,700, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
