As a Technical Project Manager, you will be a focal point to work with stakeholders, developments teams in additional to external development resources to develop new residential smart locks and solutions in addition to improving the locks and solutions on the market. This is an ideal role for a hands-on experienced Technical Project Manager who is looking to make an impact and be part of the growth engine for the electronics segment of business.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, as a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for one or more projects to take from initial concepts into production. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to align on objectives, requirements and schedule and then work with the internal and external development teams to build an execution plan to launch each project. You will be responsible to do what is necessary to ensure deliverables are met, risks are mitigated, detours are managed, and stakeholders are aligned and informed along the way. 

You will be involved in all phases of the electronics product life cycle and will engage with a multi-disciplinary team including Electronics Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical, Mobile Apps, Cloud, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, Finance, and other functions. Projects will range in complexity from small projects or large multi-faceted projects with either internal and/or external resources.

More specifically, you will:

  • (20%) Work very closely with Marketing and Engineering to understand project requirements, identify staffing gaps, develop a plan to utilize internal/external resources where needed, and prioritize features and requirements.
  • (15%) Drive the technical team to identify a technical architecture/solution that meets each projects’ requirements, complete feasibilities were needed and drive alignment on trade-offs and gaps.
  • (10%) Create and execute project plans that are aligned with stakeholders, identify risks with mitigation plans with keen focus on excellent execution and on-time delivery.
  • (30%) Ensure each project is on track based on its deliverables, budget and schedule with a regular cadence to review status and follow-through on risk areas. Provide regular status updates and communication to stakeholders.
  • (10%) Address roadblocks, conflicts, requirement changes and priorities with the appropriate stakeholders and represent the technical team.
  • (5%) Lead cross functional team as needed on root cause analysis efforts for project related issues as they arise.
  • (5%) Where resource gaps exist, identify, and manage external resources to deliver on projects commitments. Follow an RFI/RFP selection process in identifying new partners. 
  • (5%) Continuously seek, share, and implement best practices to ensure projects run smoothly.

Education and Experience Profile

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Management
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of electronics, firmware, software, Mobile Apps and/or IoT
  • PMP – Project Management Certification is a plus.
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Hands on experience managing technical projects from concept to production that involve hardware, firmware, mobile apps and cloud.
  • Experience with the complexities of multi-disciplinary projects and can navigate through all stakeholders to align on requirements, design, feasibility, and final delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing project management tools to manage projects and provide status of each project to stakeholders – such MS project, MS Office Suite, JIRA, etc.
  • Experience in products development life cycle (Waterfall and Agile)
  • Experience in identifying and managing external resources and 3rd party developers locally or overseas.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate has technical project management skills with electronics consumer products experience that include hardware and embedded software/firmware. Also, the candidate has successfully managed external resources and development partners to deliver products from early concept phase into production. The candidate has been technical developer early in his/her career path.

Work Environment:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Hybrid work in office 3 days/week.

Pay Range: $124,635-$182,798

This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
