Salary Range: $95,000 - $170,000

Scope:

The loan closing associate will primarily be responsible for managing the operational and logistical aspects of deal closings associated with privately negotiated loans. Responsibilities include monitoring the deal pipeline, reviewing closing statements/loan agreements, and preparing wires to fund deals at closing. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for setup and maintenance of the firm’s privately negotiated loans across all databases/records systems both internal and external. The loan closing associate will be a critical member of the operations team developing strong working relationships across the investment teams, accounting, operations, and technology.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage operational and logistical responsibilities related to private loan deal closings, working hand in hand with the investment, legal, and tax teams.
  • Liaise with the firm’s legal and tax team on proper entity creation, bank account setup and deal structuring.
  • Review closing statements/loan agreements alongside the investment team, prepare/track wires to title/borrowers, ensure appropriate controls are followed in advance of deal funding.
  • Manage data requirements associated with new investments ensuring proper setup across the firm’s various databases, including, but not limited to, the firm’s security master, order management system, internal, and external accounting systems.
  • Work with the firm’s loan servicer and sub-administrators to ensure they are tracking the loan accurately and ensure interest is being calculated and paid correctly.
  • Partner with the firm’s Operations and Technology teams to improve and automate various processes.
  • Facilitate the implementation of process and procedure improvements focusing on UAT testing, collaboration with the firm’s development team and external vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of financial services experience, within finance, treasury, or operations at a hedge fund, private equity firm, and/or venture capital firm. Real Estate loan experience is a plus.
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of loans and associated legal documents.
  • Motivated team player who can take on many roles supporting a lean team; ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results.
  • Extremely organized individual with the ability to perform at a high-level within a fast paced, entrepreneurial culture with a focus on excellence.
  • High attention to detail is a must.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to articulate views in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Systems experience a plus: Geneva, Markit WSO, MIK.
