Summary 

Illumina’s Global Information Systems (GIS) team is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and team-oriented Staff Software Test Engineer to Lead the test automation team focused on testing and automating test plans for SAP end-to-end business processes as well as other high priority applications within the GIS portfolio. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional understanding and experience with planning, writing, automating, and executing functional and regression testing use cases. They will require experience leading a team of test automation engineers and managing multiple projects and backlogs simultaneously. This position demands an individual with strong quality engineering, collaboration, and communication skills, who can contribute to a team environment to present well prepared, stakeholder-focused verbal and written communications. 

Responsibilities 

  • Serve as lead in all testing automation efforts related to SAP releases and updates. Lead all other testing projects for high priority applications with testing use cases. Use effective communication and presentation skills to report and manage defects, facilitate resolution sessions with cross functional and global teams. 
  • Manage and lead a team of test automation engineers to ensure that all testing activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analyze requirements for ambiguity and testability, create automation strategy/test plans, automated scripts and data for continuous improvement activities including end-to-end testing process. 
  • Develop and implement automation testing strategies for supported portfolio applications. Create and execute automation testing plans and strategies that align with project goals and objectives. Create and maintain automated test scripts using various automation tools and programming languages.
  • Identify and report defects internally and externally partnering with vendors. Identify and report defects and issues in a timely manner, and work with the test automation team and business leads to resolve them.
  • Create and maintain test documentation and other artifacts. Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and other testing documentation to ensure that testing activities are well-documented and repeatable.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior and new testing resources. Train and mentor junior automation testers to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
  • Keep up to date with the latest automation testing tools, technologies, and best practices to ensure that testing activities are efficient and effective.
  • Manage a variety of testing environments and servers ensuring they are properly configured and maintained to support testing activities.
  • Provide testing metrics and reports to project stakeholders to ensure that they are informed about the progress and status of testing activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders. Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that testing activities are aligned with project requirements. Work with cross functional and global team develop, modify, and execute end to end test plans and automation libraries.

Requirements 

  • 8+ years of SAP module testing experience in which 2 years or more testing experience in S/4 HANA is preferred.
  • 4+ years of test automation experience
  • Experience in performing testing activities on applications governed under regulatory compliance such as HIPAA, FDA and/or SOX is preferred. 
  • Strong SAP functional testing experience with a high level of experience in Worksoft Certify or other automation framework.
  • Prior experience in Worksoft CTM implementation and server maintenance preferred.
  • Understanding requirements and creating key test deliverables such as test strategies, test scripts, test scenarios, and test data
  • Hands on experience in integrating Worksoft Certify with other applications like JIRA, and ValGenesis by using API’s.
  • Experience defining and customizing test automation best practices.
  • Experience in building Test management & reporting Dashboard
  • Experience with writing, executing, and automating functional, integration and regression tests. 
  • Experience with testing documentation within ValGenesis, and/or Jira. 
  • Excellent communication, documentation & presentations skills
  • Strong collaboration skills will be required to collaborate with global teams. Position requires attending regular calls with US based teams during Pacific Standard time zone (mostly US morning hours).

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • Field of study in Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent related work experience.
