Job Description:

Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We’re actively seeking a talented Director of Visualization Engineering to join our Advanced Analytics team in Newport Beach, CA.

Are you passionate about transforming data into compelling and engaging visuals? Do you have a keen eye for design and a knack for storytelling? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the data visualization leader position at Pacific Life. As a data visualization leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the way data is presented and understood within the analytics community. Your expertise in data visualization, combined with your leadership skills, will drive effective decision-making and enhance our data-driven culture. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that our visualizations are not only aesthetically pleasing but also insightful and impactful. You will work closely with data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver data solutions that meet their objectives. You will also mentor and coach a team of data visualization specialists, ensuring that they follow best practices and standards for data visualization.

Thought Leadership and Best Practices:

  • Provide thought leadership, best practices, and standards required to deliver effective and sustainable data visualization solutions to clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging tools, and techniques related to data visualization.

Data Visualization Governance:

  • Lead the development and adoption of data visualization standards across various visualization teams.
  • Oversee compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Review and correct project direction, approach, and key artifacts related to information design.

Project Oversight and Direction:

  • Collaborate with project managers, data analysts, and designers to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Review and guide the development of visualizations to keep programs on track and solutions extensible and maintainable.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, understanding their needs and translating them into effective visual representations.
  • Provide visual, technical, and editorial guidance to project teams.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and clarity of visualizations.
  • Validate data sources and verify the integrity of visual representations.

User Experience (UX):

  • Advocate for user-centric design principles in data visualization.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and user-friendly dashboards and reports.

Training and Mentorship:

  • Train team members on data visualization best practices.
  • Mentor junior data visualization professionals, fostering their growth and skill development.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$175,860.00 - $214,940.00
