Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking to hire a Functional Quality Assurance Manager for the Chelmsford, MA facility. Responsible for overseeing processes and leading direct-report team members that are accountable for managing Supplier Quality Engineers, a supervised team of Receiving Inspection, Training, and facility Auditing activities.

Reporting to the Site Sr. Quality Manager, this role includes responsibility for defining and executing strategic plans for the quality department, staffing and providing direction to quality personnel. Frequent interface with program/product management and cross functional team leaders; requires interface with customers including on-site DCMA personnel. Knowledgeable and capable of developing and implementing quality systems in support of site Operations program execution while complying with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.

Successful candidate must be able to drive business improvements into current programs and functional areas while ensuring that effective preventive and corrective strategies are defined and executed.

The Locale: Chelmsford, Massachusetts is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.

It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • At least 10 years of related professional experience.
  • Experience in leading leaders and employee growth.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of ISO9000 / AS9100 Quality Management Systems and overall quality principles.
  • Skilled in driving the development and implementation of process improvements and quality systems in manufacturing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that promote teamwork across multiple functions and motivate support personal to achieve common goals.
  • Experience in solving complex problems associated with the quality of products and regarding quality owned processes (configuration management, product traceability, corrective action boards, first article inspection, nonconforming product record retention, etc.)
  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with Technical Operations, Manufacturing, and all other stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance and must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance prior to start.

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced as a leader of direct report employees and leaders
  • Experience in AS9100 audit practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Management experience
  • Electronics manufacturing experience
  • Experience with J-STD-001, IPC-610
  • Experience working with Government customers in the Aerospace Industry
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • Experienced in Bid, Proposal and Estimating practices and development of Quality Assurance Basis of Estimates (BOE)
