Job Summary: The Student Employment Temp Assistant will provide essential support to the Associate Director of Student Employment at New York Tech working 20 hours a week. The schedule is flexible and to be determined but must be within standard business hours of Monday to Friday and 9:00am-5:00pm.

This role involves assisting in the administration of the Office of Student Employment, paperwork processing, which encompasses recruitment, training, policy management, program development, and community partnerships. This position will be primarily located on the Long Island Campus and may provide support on the New York City campus as needed (minimum once a month). 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Student Employment Program Administration: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Student Employment Program across New York Tech's New York City and Long Island campuses.
  • Recruitment: Support the recruitment of on-campus student aid and Federal Work Study (FWS) positions, off-campus FWS community service positions, and student applicants.
  • Training: Provide training to students and supervisors on hiring and timesheet processes, best practices for students and supervisors, and professional development workshops.
  • Policy Management: Administer policies and procedures to ensure prudent use of Student Employment resources, staying compliant with State and Federal tax and labor laws.
  • Advisement and Support: Meet with student employees in one-on-one advisement sessions to assist them in securing and succeeding in student employment positions on- and off-campus as well as facilitate support for students, faculty, and staff
  • Event Planning: Assist in planning and delivery of National Student Employment Awareness Week events, workshops, celebrations, and award luncheons, annually.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.1-3 years of applicable experience.

Knowledge of student employment, federal work programs, and community service programs a plus.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, and computer skills (MS Office & Excel).

Adaptability to deal with ambiguity in a complex, changing environment.

Willingness to perform other job-related duties, as assigned

In-person attendance Monday-Friday.
