Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr Systems Engineer – Processing Domain with experience inground system processing, working alongside senior engineers to develop next generation processing capability for large constellation data needs.. The candidate will come up to speed on legacy programs to gain an understanding of the art of the possible and set a foundation for innovative new ideas. As larger and larger constellations come on board, there is a need for new ideas in how to process the larger amounts of data. In addition to larger amounts of data, the constellation also requires more integration, faster responses, and more accurate results from processing. To make this a reality, the candidate should be comfortable implementing automation, understanding new developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and can visualize the needs of large scale systems.

The candidate should have experience with systems engineering principles of requirements, system decomposition, interfaces, integration and test on large government software development program and general systems engineering lifecycles. Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo is helpful. 

As the Sr Systems Engineer – Processing Domain you will be providing engineering support to develop and improve an advanced system. In addition to working with other Engineering disciplines, you will be exposed to various technologies including multi-tiered architectures, Amazon Web Services and numerous program specific operational tools.

Our Program follows modern Agile / DevOps development practices utilizing an agile framework and we provide robust and easy-to-use tools for reporting status and estimates to your Agile team leadership - meaning more time for true problem solving. Our small Agile teams adapt to evolving problem sets, and Engineers benefit from a flexible work environment where Engineers can migrate between teams to contribute to new domains.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Learn about established processing systems to leverage for new ideas and to understand the interfaces between processing, Command and Control and Mission Management.
  • Design a requirements compliant processing system; manage processing interfaces
  • Innovate new processing capability using the latest automation principles.
  • Oversee processing development to ensure requirement are satisfied.
  • Support continuous integration/continuous delivery development principles
  • Assist integration in troubleshooting ground system processing application issues and driving defects to closure

Work Location: This position is an onsite role at our Richardson, TX campus

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Systems engineering lifecycle experience
  • Experience with a satellite ground system processing domain or related fields
  • Systems Engineering experience on a large government software development contract
  • Current TSSCI security clearance. "Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance."s
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Engineering, or related Technical field with a minimum 5 years' relevant or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Development experience on a large software government contract
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps development methods
  • Experience in Agile software development
  • Understanding of automation techniques
  • Experience in test verification of requirements
  • Experience with integration and test procedures and plans
  • Experience working in a multi-discipline environment

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
