  • Degree in civil engineering from an accredited Canadian university or college;
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset;
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel abilities;
  • Ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specs;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
  • Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Contribute to engineering design assignments in a team environment;
  • Participate in the development of the concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details, for design, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets, and contract documents;
  • Construction inspection on projects in Kitchener and surrounding areas;
  • Issue field review reports and help contractor administrator issuing proposed changes and site instructions to the contractor.
  • Resolving construction issues with the assistance of the site project manager and field supervisors;
  • Quantity measurements, daily reporting, and participation in construction meetings;
  • Completion of construction as-built for record-keeping/approval purposes;
  • Provide assistance to project manager with day to day project operations;
  • Communications/scheduling with city/municipal inspectors on assigned projects to ensure compliance with contract standards/specifications;
  • Preparation of specifications and reports;
  • Other duties as assigned
