JOB SUMMARY

Marriott operates and franchises hotels and licenses vacation ownership resorts and branded residential properties. Marriott’s Law Department services the Company's lodging and hospitality business and provides legal advice and counsel to Marriott’s internal clients. 

This paralegal position is part of the Consumer Operations, Global Services and U.S./Canada Lodging practice group (“Group”) of the Law Department and will report to the Group’s Vice President & Corporate Counsel, responsible for Loyalty and Enterprise Partnerships. The role will primarily focus on supporting the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program and Enterprise Partnerships. 

Specific Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position will be: 

  • Provide direct support to the attorneys and assist other members of the Group in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist Loyalty Marketing team with review of consumer marketing collateral and updates/edits to Marriott Bonvoy terms and conditions.
  • Communicate with representatives of Loyalty and Enterprise Partnership teams, including preparation of draft contracts, receiving, and reviewing contract edits, negotiating changes, and coordinating the finalization and execution of the documents.
  • Review cobranded credit card marketing collateral and assist in drafting credit card product terms and conditions related to Marriott Bonvoy loyalty benefits for new domestic and international credit card products. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Law Department, and work effectively with internal clients and business partners across regional teams.
  • Identify relevant issues in preparation and review of draft partnership contracts and coordinate with colleagues and across the business on tax, intellectual property, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters.
  • Work directly with Marriott business leaders.
  • Draft documents, using standard forms and templates.
  • Update Law department database(s) to reflect executed transactions.
  • Undertake special assignments, including research, review, and analysis of contract documentation and other issues.

Candidate Profile

Required:

  • Two-year college degree and 
  • Minimum relevant work experience of three years.

OR

  • Four-year college degree and
  • Minimum relevant work experience of one year.

OR

  • At least ten years of relevant work experience as a paralegal

Has basic subject matter paralegal experience; Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with database functionality and operation. 
  • Availability for minimal travel.
  • Flexibility for overtime.
