West Monroe’s growing Organization & People practice is in search of a Director with deep HR M&A experience to join our dynamic practice and lead our team in New York. 

Directors within our Organization & People practice bring at least 15 years of relevant HR advisory experience, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a consulting environment. They are client service leaders that demonstrate multidisciplinary expertise through business development, practice development, and client delivery. They are also strong people developers with a desire and passion for training, coaching, and developing our next generation of leaders. 

We are looking for a Director that is primarily industry-agnostic with an ability to consult with an array of clients across multiple industries including Private Equity, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Consumer & Industrial Products, High Tech & Software, Banking & Credit Unions, Utilities, and Insurance. 

Our offerings include: 

  • HR Solutions: Transform the HR function through people, process, and technology redesign, increasing the value HR services deliver by building an integrated employee experience, reinventing HR processes, and deploying HR technology strategically to drive the people strategy and create business value. 
  • Transactions: Manage all aspects of the HR deal process and advise on M&A value-drivers related to people, process, technology, organization, culture, and HR functional considerations in addition to advising on commercial diligence for HR-focused target companies. 
  • Transformation: Drive quantifiable business results using digital solutions, analytics, and benchmarks to optimize enterprise and functional organizational structure, culture, talent and workforce planning.

Directors at West Monroe have three primary responsibilities

Business Development: 

  • Drives opportunity origination at existing clients, qualifying leads and collaborating on pursuits for new work and building deep relationships.
  • Collaborate with industry and multidisciplinary teams to identify sales opportunities based on Organization & People issues or market trends.
  • Initiate and lead business development meetings with prospective clients.
  • Understand client needs and requirements and help turn those goals into concrete engagements and detailed proposals that highlight value quantifiable value creation.
  • Create work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for prospects.
  • Attend networking events and actively build and leverage a professional network and affiliate network in the local community.

Practice Development: 

  • Collaborate with practice / local office leadership to define the culture, strategic direction, and actively lead entrepreneurial activities.
  • Drive the development/enhancement of Organization & People offerings, methodologies, and approaches to client delivery.
  • Coach and lead other consultants and actively participate in the performance management process.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and retaining top quality consultants.
  • Assist in developing Organization & People tools and processes.

Client Delivery: 

  • Lead practice and multidisciplinary teams serving clients across industries and across Organization & People offerings.
  • Adheres to standards and established processes in managing engagement and delivery risks, including escalation expectations.
  • Manages risk related client conversations and conflict in a professional manner to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborate with all levels of management both internally and at client sites.
  • Serves as a role model to project teams inspiring good teamwork and excellent client service.
  • Understand the underlying business processes and technologies being used within an organization to be able to make recommendations on how to achieve long-term scalability, reduce operational cost, or better support business processes.

What you’ll bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 15+ years of relevant HR, organization transformation, and people-focused transactions experience.
  • 8+ years of client servicing and/or advisory experience in a consulting environment.
  • 6+ years of people management experience.
  • HR M&A expertise with a proven track record advising clients throughout every stage of the deal life cycle, including TSA planning, diligence, pre-close planning, integration/separation, and value creation for buy-and-sell-side deals. 
  • Demonstrated success across West Monroe’s core industries including Private Equity, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Consumer & Industrial Products, High Tech & Software, Banking & Credit Unions, Utilities, and Insurance.
  • Candidates for this opening should have a robust Private Equity network.
  • Expert program manager with extensive experience managing multiple functional HR projects including developing work plans, project scopes, pricing estimates, budget management, issue, and risk management, and presenting deliverables.
  • Business development experience including farming leads and assisting in managing the sales process – pursuit strategy, client development cycle and tools, proposal development, fee and profitability planning, and contract management.
  • Highly experienced in developing work plans, project scopes, pricing estimates, and presentations to assist in selling work to clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create impactful and concise executive stakeholder-ready deliverables, and polished client-facing oral communication skills.
  • Strong data visualization and analysis skills; comfortable using tools like Excel to analyze data and present key insights in a compelling way.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity. Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale. 

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.
