Description

General Summary:

This position is responsible for inspecting machined components, sheet metal, and composite components, purchased products and standards, raw materials, assembled products, and outside processing for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Interprets drawings, routings, product specifications, and quality requirements, to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications.
  2. Creates complete CMM measurement programs using drawings and product specifications.
  3. Interprets and preforms geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) evaluations.
  4. Assists in receiving inspection operations, checking for conformance to specifications and PO requirements.
  5. Examines materials and product for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, dents, burrs, nicks, and incomplete welds.
  6. Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
  7. Follows established procedures to verify specified dimensions of product or material.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Associates’ Technical Degree preferred.
  3. 5 years’ experience as mechanical inspector strongly preferred.
  4. 3 years’ experience on Zeiss CMM involving programming and operation strongly preferred.
  5. Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints including true-positional tolerance per ANSI/Y-14.5
  6. Experience with CATIA and SAP strongly preferred.

  1. Clear communication of rejections/non compliances
  2. Data reporting and analysis
  3. Time/priority management

Physical Requirements:

  1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
  9. Must have full range of motion and agility.
