Job Title: Senior Product Developer – UGG Footwear

Reports to: Senior Product Development Manager – UGG Footwear

Location: Goleta, CA

The Role

The Senior Product Developer for Footwear will lead the product creation and confirmation process from design stage through sales samples. This role will focus on UGG’s performance categories and requires experience with cold weather testing, waterproof performance, and midsole/outsole compounds. The Senior Developer must be a hands-on, creative problem solver with high proficiency managing many projects in a fast-paced environment. They will collaborate with Product Development peers, Designers and Product Line Managers to create functional footwear solutions that reinforce and drive initiatives and product construction needs. They also must have the ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, work independently, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • 1. Manage and lead the product creation process from brief stage and design through final prototyping, salesman samples, and confirmation samples.
  • Problem-solve design tech packages prior to hand-off for potential construction, material, fit & wear, or cost concerns.
  • Generate and maintain correct Bill of Materials (BOM) for all projects.
  • Review and evaluate project status with the product creation and development teams with focus on patterns, mold processes, materials, pricing, yield & cost analysis, manufacturing processes and end use performance.
  • Mastery of technical drawings, lab tests, patterns, components and lasts to identify issues.
  • Manage and execute timely approval of production confirmation samples to ensure a smooth transition into commercialization.
  • 2. Fit and wear test
  • Manage the diagnosis of fit/wear and commercialization issues and ensure that product offerings are proven and tested successfully commercialized and mass production.
  • Partner with Product Engineering team to drive maximum comfort.
  • 3. Innovation & technical knowledge
  • Strive for continuous improvement in production through periodic examination of defective returns and product teardowns.
  • Proactively seek evaluate and monitor new technologies relevant to the industry.
  • Extensive experience with performance products in regards to cold weather testing, waterproof construction, insulation, and midsole/outsole compounds.
  • 4. Leadership and People Management
  • Strong influencer, mentor, collaborator.
  • Assist in training new team members.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 8-10 years’ experience in the footwear industry with specific experience working with performance products in regards to cold weather testing, waterproof construction, insulation, and midsole/outsole compounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft/Adobe applications and FlexPLM or similar online project management system.
  • Team player that has strong collaboration skills and the ability to adapt to a fast paced/changing environment.

$130,000-$140,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
