A Snapshot of Your Day 

In your role as Senior technical safety expert for electrolyzers you develop and steer the future proof safe design, it requirement specification and operation around electrolyzers, for both PEM and Alkaline technology. This bases on your vast experience as safety expert in designing a complete supply system from the first ideas throughout the complete development cycle up to the implementation into operational projects. With your outstanding domain expertise you can cascade down the safety requirements to own equipment elements and supplier provided components. You also will help project teams for the system supply in HAZOPs with their customers. Needless to mention that you apply your expertise of material classes, material specifications for e.g. safety valves up to the functional safety in P&IDs. As part of an expert community, you also guide people in functional safety in system developments and system projects. How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Playing an important role within in the development team for hydrogen production plants as an expert for Standards & Safety 
  • Development of innovative, competitive and reliable solutions in the areas of functional safety as well as explosion protection 
  • Coordination and execution of safety-related Workshops according to state-of-the-art methods (Hazop, FMEA, LOPA, ..)
  • Adopting technology scouting for trends and changes of relevant standards and active engagement in standardization committees
  • Acting as the go-to person when it comes to the hydrogen system functional safety
  • Reporting directly to the head of Engineering in SES HS as well as forcing system designs being safe for installation, commissioning and operation as selling point in projects, and of course at competitive costs. 
  • Generating impulses for technology trends and innovative ideas for future electrolysis plants
  • Guiding non-experts, development teams and projects as subject matter expert

What You Bring

  • Master Degree in process engineering or similar with strong fucus on safe operation
  • Long-time experience in in functional safety, explosion protection and homologation of process systems and plants
  • Minimum 10 years of experience at expert level around functional system safety for electrolyzers
  • Proof-pointed experience in bringing implementing safety into the designs and operation of different types of electrolyzers technologies down to requirements management
  • Deep understanding of media, materials components interacting with each other drives your activities for safe performances
  • Experience in working in international teams
  • Language skills: fluent in English and German
