Summary:

The Strategic Commodity Procurement Manager is responsible for building and executing global strategic sourcing plans and risk management programs for fats & oils commodities. The Strategic Commodity Procurement Manager will define the commodity footprint and manage risk landscape, including volatility, sustainability, supply disruptions and policy changes. He/She will lead the volatility risk management programs which include financial hedging, price locking and improving forward costs transparency.

The Strategic Commodity Procurement Manager is responsible for ensuring the supply, cost, quality, and service of a group of materials that he/she will manage, will identify and resolve all purchasing related issues for the materials/suppliers, must have a clear understanding of the market drivers influencing the dynamics of his/her sourcing geographies, and will be responsible for price and price forecast management. Also will work with related stakeholders to resolve any critical service/quality issues, to align with Network Operations and Technology on New Product Development and must be adept at the use of supply chain tools (Supply Management Inventory, ESM- Enhance Supply Management Audits, CLM - Risk Management etc.).

Responsibilities: 

  • Accountable for defining and leading strategic sourcing plans and commodity risk management (CRM) strategy
  • Map commodity footprint by increasing market intelligence, building strategic framework and long ranch plans
  • Develop best practices to report, capture and mitigate price risk both financially and within physical contracts
  • Analyze and develop a deep understanding of the supply markets, including external economic factors which influence those markets
  • Participates in external industry forums and seminars on an as needed basis
  • Execute annual direct materials budget guidance and support
  • Strategic supplier coordination, scorecard, investment assessments
  • Build relationships with key suppliers and financial counterparties for the execution of strategy
  • Executes effective negotiations with global suppliers
  • Leads continuous improvement programs with suppliers

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in a technical or business field, or comparable discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of Procurement or Supply Chain experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of management experience.
  • An understanding of execution strategies for futures, swaps and options in high and low liquidity markets
  • An understanding of fats&oils commodities would be an asset
  • An advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPM or CPSM) is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $140,000.00 - $157,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
