We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Engineer to join the reporting and analytics wing of the Systems and Control Tiger team. You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining monitoring dashboards. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to deliver up to date metrics, scalable data pipelines and visualization dashboards. This role requires fluency in bid data technologies, statistics, understanding of web application domain such as front-end and back-end, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, building pipelines in distributed systems, large scale data preprocessing, query languages such as SQL or PySpark, Python programming language and familiar with web application technologies such as React.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and metric repositories.
  • Design, develop and maintain data intensive web applications and using a variety of technologies, including but not limited to Scala/SQL/PySpark, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, Node.js, Ruby, and Java.
  • Collaborate with other scientists to define key metrics.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  • Implement automated monitoring measures for outlier detection.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, and propose solutions to ensure the performance, security, and usability of applications.
  • Profile and optimize code for performance; including identify and resolve bottlenecks in data pipelines.
  • Stay up to date and drive the implementation of distributed computing best practices.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers as needed.
  • Work closely with science and engineering teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices
  • Proven experience in building visualization dashboard using web application technologies such as Python, JavaScripts, HTML, CSS or PHP.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Experience operating large data warehouses
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling
  • 5+ years of AdTech or FinTech experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
