Our highly creative and successful global technical and content writing team is seeking a skilled Senior Technical Writer specializing in API documentation. Role Description

As a Senior Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in creating comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for our REST APIs and mobile SDKs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development Advocates, UX designers, Researchers, Product managers, Engineers, and a network of passionate subject-matter experts to gather accurate information and produce knowledge assets that meet the needs of our clients. With your expertise in API documentation specifications like OpenAPI / Swagger and your attention to detail, you will ensure the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of our technical content.

Core responsibilities:

Plan, research, and write documentation of moderate to high complexity

Work closely with UX, Product, Engineering, and SMEs to understand how features work in-depth; and produce knowledge assets that clients need

Write and maintain API documentation for our API users, such as API reference docs and developer guides, with a primary focus on REST APIs and mobile SDKs

Ensure documentation adheres to API documentation specifications like OpenAPI / Swagger

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and verify the accuracy of documentation

Conduct thorough research to gather technical details and produce comprehensive and accurate documentation

Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, accuracy, and consistency to enhance the user journey, remove redundancies, identify gaps, and improve overall structure

Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in API documentation

Who’s our ideal candidate?:

Minimum of 5 years of experience authoring high-quality knowledge content

Expert knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage

Strong understanding of REST APIs and proven experience in writing API documentation

Familiarity with API documentation specifications like OpenAPI / Swagger

Experience working with API tools like Postman or readme

Ability to comprehend technical concepts and effectively communicate them to diverse audiences

Detail-oriented and organized approach to work

Strong research and analytical skills to gather and verify technical information

Proven experience developing content for online delivery

Ability to review documentation and provide constructive feedback to peers

Familiarity with issue tracking systems for task management (e.g. Jira)

Desirable experience:

Previous experience documenting mobile SDKs

Knowledge of Git or other source control systems

UX writing experience (crafting UI copy)

Basic familiarity with web design, JavaScript, or a programming language

Familiarity with single-source documentation processes

Understanding of the translation/localization process

Experience working in distributed team environments across different time zones

Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, or readme
