Job Overview:

The IS Business Systems Analyst / SME is an individual who is expected to be a subject-matter-expert in the area in the business area and technology they work for. Thus, we always prefer to hire this role from within B&H.

This is a trained professional who understands the business area very well and performs a variety of duties designed to maintain relationships, exchange information, and promote operations. The IS Business Systems Analyst / SME will be responsible for working closely and facilitating the IS department and serve as the liaison between the business and IS teams to ensure that business needs and requirements are being addressed across Plan, Build, and Execution areas. Responsible for the intake and oversight (you should be aware of the project movement even once the PM is involved.) of projects and enhancements to the systems used by his/her respective department, and for identifying technology solutions to meet evolving business needs with an excellent understanding of the application and technology lifecycle management.

Duties:

  • To be the focal point of contact for the business teams to work with IS. This could be new initiatives, enhancements, bug fixes or maneuvering within the IS operating procedures.
  • Help with scoping out requests by bringing various business and technical teams together.
  • To understand the business needs and help translate for various IS groups exactly what is the best way to meet business requirements and expectations. Serve as the go-across various IS groups.
  • Constantly be involved and on top of the IS work that is being done for the business departments and ensure that work is being conducted within IS per the priorities of the business. Act as a “program manager” for various initiatives within IS.
  • Build strong relationships with the director and various business managers and various people within the IS department to ensure cohesive working relationships.
  • Regular meetings/check-ins with the business managers to be on top of their problems/needs and help with problem solving.
  • Identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility and makes recommendations typically seeking to exploit and leverage new or existing IS components for the department.
  • All other duties as assigned (catch all)
  • Strong intake skills, gathering the PRF information in a timely manner and prioritization. You should bring an understanding of the business issue to IS above a technical, level explaining what impacts the issue and solutions will have on the business side. Once the issue is well understood the Business Analyst / SME will assist the business with the solution evaluation, know what departments will be involved/affected by the solution and notify them. If the project stalls, communicate with the PM why it is so and be informed of what team/developer is working on the project should you need to communicate directly to explain the business concepts.
