Job Description

The Dean of MTSS will provide leadership to the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) structure team to ensure all essential components of MTSS are implemented and monitored with fidelity and lead to dramatic and quantifiable academic, social-emotional, and behavioral achievement results for students.

Daily: 

  • Coach & manage interventionists on following: Implementation fidelity, assessment administration & data collection 
  • Manage & maintain Intervention Progress Monitoring Tools
  • Implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions 

Weekly: 

  • Lead weekly MTSS Meeting (Collect MTSS Referral Forms before MTSS Meetings)
  • Coordinate intervention services for all components of MTSS. 
  • Disseminate & collect screening packets to teachers
  • Communicate with families and gain consent for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions (Invite Families to MTSS meetings)

Quarterly: 

  • Collaborate with Leadership team to coordinate universal screening and intervention placement tests.
  • Collaborate with Leadership team to create intervention schedule for Teachers and Students.
  • Analyze progress monitoring Data and modify interventions. 
  • Analyze intervention data to determine if a student needs to be referred for an evaluation.

Key MTSS Compliance Leadership Responsibilities:

  • 2/1 Tiered Projections: Collaborate with SL, MTSS Coordinator & Psychologist to develop 2/1 Tiered Projections

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years teaching experience in urban, open enrollment schools and demonstrated student results at an exemplary level
  • Successful completion of State and Federal Criminal Background Check
  • Personal affinity to our mission and vision, as well as demonstrated commitment to our 5 core beliefs - Relentlessness, Equity, Achievement, Community, and Hope
  • Deep understanding intervention curriculum/standards, Tier I core curriculum, continuum of services and research best practices within MTSS
  • Ability to regularly analyze intervention & progress monitoring to inform decisions about modifying interventions and/or referral to evaluation
  • Strong organization systems and ability to develop aligned backwards plans 
  • Deep understanding of AIMsweb and other normed data collection tools (setting goals, adjusting goals, etc.)
  • All employees hired after Friday, August 20, 2021 must be able to provide documentation that either the new-hire employee has received a COVID-19 vaccination or has requested and been granted reasonable accommodation from the KNOS Director of HR to be exempted from the requirements of this policy

The following are strongly preferred for all KIPP New Orleans Deans of MTSS:

  • Masters in Education or aligned content
  • 2-3 years teaching experience with at least 2 years of leadership experience in urban, open enrollment schools and demonstrated student results at an exemplary level in both roles
  • State issued teaching credential

  • Must be able to sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to spend the majority of the day standing or mobile throughout the classroom, as well as talk, hear, grasp, reach and lift up to 30lbs with or without accommodations
  • Ability to concentrate in active and noisy environments such as cafeterias and playgrounds, to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
  • Ability to handle potential high stress conditions
