Overview

Repligen’s Process Analytics team is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer with a passion for driving innovation in the bioprocessing sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and development, and analysis of advanced Analytical instruments integral to the advancement of process analytical technologies (PAT).

This individual will play a key role in new product introduction, developing requirements and solutions for new products, as well as supporting sustaining efforts on current products. 

The work will include research, design and development of new systems and devices which will be used to control, monitor, and regulate Pharma or Biotech processes in laboratory or production environments. The individual will be involved in performing PCB design, firmware development, and final product verification and validation.

Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will engage in the design, analysis, documentation, and testing, orchestrating a symphony of innovation to meet our exacting standards and expectations of our bioprocessing customers.

Responsibilities

Design and Development

  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic designs and/or modifications per product requirements.
  • Develop firmware adhering to company code quality standards.
  • Develop test fixtures and perform tests to prove design functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.
  • Generate high-level block diagram to communicate electronic designs to varied audiences.
  • Produce quality, cost effective, error-free designs.
  • Stay abreast of latest technology trends, and leverage it for new product development.

Technical Reviews

  • Participated in technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA etc.
  • Resolve technical problems on the production floor utilizing Engineering analysis.
  • Resolve non-conforming material issues and coordinate corrective measures.
  • Develop and support product qualification protocols.
  • Identify quality issues and manage resolutions utilizing techniques such as Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments and Root Cause Analysis.

Project Management

  • Oversee project schedules, ensuring on-time engineering releases aligned with development priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external design teams to create cost-effective, technically viable projects, optimizing for efficiency, operability, and DFx principles.
  • Liaise with Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality departments to support project objectives.
  • Manage project cost, drive cost reduction efforts and address obsolescence.

Vendor development and coordination

  • Evaluate new technological solutions and determine the feasibility for implementation.
  • Evaluate new vendors and advise on qualifications.
  • Select components and generate parts lists.

Regulatory

  • Support, sustain, and improve products to meet bioprocessing and pharmacopeia standards.
  • Develop products to comply with regulatory requirements, Safety (UL, ATEX), EMC (CE) and Environment (RoHS).

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Work Experience:

10+ years in electronics design and firmware development.

Altium and MATLAB experience preferred.

Experience with ERP (SAP, Visual) software preferred.

Familiarity with data analysis, system modeling and simulation tools, such as MS Excel,

Matlab and Labview.

Experience in navigating and complying with regulated environments, including FDA,

USP, EU, GMP, CE, and UL standards

Preferred experience with instrumentation, especially in spectroscopy.

Skills:

Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a solid work ethic.

Ability to analyze data, resolve issues, and think diagnostically.

Strong communication skills, both penned and spoken, with a willingness to engage with different teams and customers.

Ability to prioritize tasks and execute promptly to meet the deadlines.

Ability to develop firmware in C/C++.
