Legal Counsel - MENA

The Team:

This position reports to Head of Commodity Insights Legal - EMEA. You will work in a high-energy, client-facing, multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment and will have the opportunity to apply and develop negotiation and drafting skills, work in a collaborative environment and be part of a team that provides crucial support to the organization across multiple countries and legal systems.

Responsibilities and Impact:

You will be the strategic legal point covering the legal affairs of Commodity Insights business in Middle East and North Africa. You will be responding to internal client inquiries, providing valuable support in the handling of legal matters and in all aspects of the contract process, reviewing contracts, training the commercial organization on legal and contracting procedures, negotiating and drafting contracts for financial information and analytical products and services and assisting with special projects outside of routine client facing contracting as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic, emotionally intelligent thinker with an ability to instill trust and confidence in cross-functional and cross-divisional team members and stakeholders
  • Primary responsibility for legal negotiation and advice on complex commercial agreements and related matters impacting products and services, with specific emphasis on legal landscape in Middle East and North America.
  • Draft, negotiate, and assess data rights for a variety of agreements, including but not limited to, complex distribution, channel partner and strategic agreements, customer agreements for products and services, services, data and technology vendor agreements, and marketing agreements.
  • Interact with KSA government authorities and regulators.
  • Ensure that the Company’s intellectual property and general practices are protected, and liability and risk exposure are mitigated.
  • Identification, enforcement, and training on appropriate policies and procedures, including areas concerning competition law, privacy and other regulatory matters.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Law degree and [7-12] years of experience in-house or at a law firm working with in-house clients. In-house experience is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in GCC and KSA laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace and works collaboratively across functions and departments.
  • Requires a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and effectively counsel internal clients by providing them with clear, concise and pragmatic advice and creative solutions where necessary to meet their business needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract, intellectual property law and an understanding of the international laws of the jurisdictions. This includes protection of copyright and other proprietary rights, data privacy, warranties, indemnification, disclaimer of liability and information reuse provisions.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication in English and Arabic.
