The Role
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Design System expert to drive the design system team. This is your opportunity to play an integral part in defining and evolving our user interface components, UX guidance, and patterns, setting the standards for ION's digital experiences.
A portfolio is required as part of the application.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand IONs design system and team
- Lead design requirements discovery and workshops.
- Collaborate with engineers to build upon our scalable, code-based design system
- Work with designers, engineers and product owners to create reusable components and patterns across multiple platforms
- Work alongside the Product, Development, and UX teams to streamline our processes and boost efficiency
- Incorporate inclusive design principles in your work and within the team
- Champion user-centered design decisions, challenging conventional mindsets
- Contribute to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and creative team culture
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Figma expert and a solid understanding of design tokens
- Ability to effectively explain technical concepts in a clear and concise way and to clearly communicate the rationale behind your research and recommendations
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines, CSS and HTML.
- Previous involvement with a complex, enterprise-scale design system
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of design systems best practice
- A solid understanding of User-Centered Design (UCD)
- Experience working on products with substantial scope.
- To be at the forefront of Design System thinking and introduce new method, tools and technical developments to the team
- Proven record of collaboration with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unknowns with enthusiasm and passion
- 6+ years of experience.
