Job Description Summary

As a Staff Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development planning and execution for the Milwaukee-based Monitoring Platform Team. In this leadership role, you will also be a key member of an overall Global Monitoring Platform Team developing and delivering the next generation of life saving patient monitoring solutions.

This role will require you to have excellent organizational, personal and communication skills, as you will be the primary representative for the team with respect to what needs to be delivered to the program and by when. While doing this, you will be celebrating team accomplishments, helping to remove any challenges ahead and facilitating team collaboration.

This role is great from someone who has previously worked in a software execution leadership role and is interested in working on our team. It is also an equally great opportunity if you are an experience software engineer who has led development teams in the past, and you are looking to expand your program leadership skills and scope of influence across multiple software development teams.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

For the Milwaukee-based Monitoring Platform Team, this role will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Owning the software development and integration plan for multiple Scrum teams as a component of the overall program development plan.
  • Partnering with team leads and designer owners to continually manage and prioritize the team’s development backlog.
  • Leading the team’s planning related operating mechanisms: Release Cycle Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, Sprint Planning, Scrum of Scrums.
  • Supporting team during day-to-day execution with removing impediments or making priority calls.
  • Partnering with the Functional Management on driving efficiencies and teamwork development.

For the overall Program, this role will be a partner to the Program Manager, Lead Program Integrator and Lead System Designer to co-ordinate with the global team leaders on 

  • Program level planning & execution for various software teams.
  • Driving effective communication regarding software releases across all the global teams.
  • Delivering on sprint plans - managing SCRUM of SCRUM during sprints to ensure integrity of the overall plan.
  • Coordinating on planned integration points across all software teams.
  • Coordinating the program-level software execution metrics.
  • Coordinating the program level quality execution metrics for the release cycle & Sprints.
  • Supporting the PM, LPI and software functional management team on management reviews, op-mechs, release cycle demos and metrics from a software standpoint.
  • Partner on global Software initiatives on sharing and adopting best practices on Scaled Agile, SCRUM and Quality processes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline. 
  • Strong software development background. Minimum of 5 years of software development experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a software development team, technical industry or research environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience & knowledge of program management tools & processes including Agile product development methodology.
  • Demonstrated track record with operationalizing Agile methodologies within teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with remote teams to deliver a product or platform. 
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering challenging projects on time while satisfying quality and performance needs
  • Ability to influence cross-functional decision makers 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated record of managing medium sized, complex Software engineering programs in a multi-functional matrix environment
  • 8+ years project leadership experience within software development, or research development, including leadership of multiple projects or programs
  • Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change
  • Deep technical experience in global software development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge in engineering and program management having experience with the full product development lifecycle
  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task; tenacious and organized
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation.
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and having the ability to navigate ambiguous situations
  • Clear thinking: simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with ISO, FDA and other regulatory standards.
