Corporate Controller - Location: Wilton CT or New York City

Reporting to AIG’s Deputy Group Controller, the Corporate Controller serves a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate external reporting of AIG’s consolidated financial information in compliance with US GAAP, SEC and internal accounting policy requirements. The Corporate Controller is broadly responsible for leading delivery of the quarterly and annual SEC filings on Forms 10-K and 10-Q, global consolidation of the Company's financial statements, overall quarterly close coordination, and management of global Controllership activities.

The successful candidate is an established Controllership leader who possesses a strong and well-balanced combination of insurance technical knowledge, operational savvy with an ability to efficiently leverage available resources, organizational dexterity with capability to build relationships across disciplines, and comfort leading large teams and influencing others in a dynamic and transformational environment.

This role offers tremendous opportunity for leadership and technical accounting development, as well as exposure to senior and executive management on a global basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the SEC Reporting team in delivery of required US GAAP and SEC disclosures in the 10-Q and 10-K, as well as the accompanying Financial Supplement, leveraging our Workiva financial reporting platform
  • Lead the Global Consolidation team, with an end-to-end operational scope that includes multiple sub-consolidation submissions across AIG’s domestic and

international General Insurance businesses and culminates in the preparation, review and analysis of the consolidated and segment financial statements

  • Serve as Controller and supervise the accounting activities for AIG’s top-level parent company, which

routinely includes complex capital markets and M&A transactions

  • Lead the global coordination and provision of management oversight of the AIG quarterly close, including Corporate-level activities as well as direct supervision of

Regional Controllership activities forming the international General Insurance business; this will include enforcing calendar integrity, identification and

management of emerging issues, results reviews, execution of related internal controls, etc.

  • Serve as a primary interface between Controllership and Investor Relations during quarterly earnings preparation, ensuring the timely and effective review of key market-facing deliverables such as press release, earnings presentation and other critical documents
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with business leaders, senior management and external auditors as well as other key functions to ensure complex capital markets,

M&A and other significant transactions are properly reflected in the consolidated financial statements and Financial Supplement, issues during quarter

close are timely identified and resolved, and a strong feedback loop exists to drive continuous improvement

  • Prepare select quarterly AIG Audit Committee communications
  • Oversee the delivery of certain legal entity financial statements and fulfilment of governance reporting obligations, including an international holding company and investment holding company
  • Leverage capabilities native to the Controllership, as well as effectively partner with FP&A and segment CFOs to ensure the delivery of detailed analytics used to

simultaneously validate segment and consolidated financial statements and develop market messaging of operating results

  • Ensure timely and effective execution of all relevant internal controls supporting the consolidated financial statements, including data governance,

parent-level transactions, consolidations and sub-consolidations, key reconciliations and analytical reviews

  • Support ongoing strategic development and execution/validation of finance transformation projects; fully leverage capabilities of new Finance architecture to

drive expected improvement in timeliness of reporting and depth of analytical insights

  • Mentor staff and support long term, strategic career development opportunities for the team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability to self and team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA required
  • 15 years of relevant professional experience, particularly leading teams in a controller capacity

for an SEC-registered P&C insurance company, with Big Four experience strongly preferred

  • Strong technical accounting experience across a broad spectrum, including consolidations, capital markets

transactions, EPS, P&C insurance, SEC accounting/reporting, M&A, etc.

  • Industry business acumen along with a clear understanding and awareness of global macroeconomic and

other relevant factors impacting the business that manifest in financial results

  • Systems-technical acumen, able to quickly grasp management reporting structures, understand a newly

transformed finance architecture and financial reporting platform, and determine how to extract maximum

value in execution of the quarterly financial close

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with

senior leaders across Finance and operational disciplines towards a common purpose; commercially

oriented, carrying credibility with segment and groupwide CFO organization, Investor Relations, legal

counsel, etc.

  • Experience leading teams in a dynamic, transformational environment, where change is embraced and

viewed as an opportunity to drive process improvement

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery to

internal/external boards and executive management

  • For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $185,000 - $265, 000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
